Proverbs 29:25b “Whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.” The footnote of Zondervan quoted in Hebrew language: “shall be set on high.”
Have you ever been challenged about this verse and say, “No, I don’t feel safe after all the things I have been through?” Actually, there’s more to this verse on Proverbs 29:25 but I want to focus on ncv: “... if you trust the Lord, you will be safe.” What exactly does that means “safe” when we have experienced many disasters individually? Does it feel like God didn’t protect us, didn’t He? This is a big subject and there is one thing I want to share on Luke 22:31 and Jesus tells Peter that his “faith will be shaken.” Jesus knows that your faith will be shaken, too! The beauty of this verse 32 for Peter and for us: Jesus said, “But I have prayed for you, that your faith will not be shaken and when you realized that, you are to encourage your brother and sister not to give up, too.” This is part of my translation. KJV says: “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren” (Luke 22:32). Jesus prayed for us that our "faith in God will not be shaken." He cares!
When we trust God, He set us on a high place of the rock, a "safe" place which is Jesus Christ, Himself. We may never feel safe all around us, but our trust is in God and our security should be in Him. So if your faith have been "shaken," remember, in time like this, we need a Savior, we need an anchor, and this Rock is Jesus.
Song: In Times Like These
In times like these.. you need a Savior;..
In times like these.. you need an anchor..
Be very sure… Be very sure…
Your anchor holds.. and grips the Solid Rock!...
This Rock is Jesus,.. Yes, He’s the One;…
This Rock is Jesus,.. The only One;…
Be very sure,… Be very sure,…
Your anchor holds… and grips the Solid Rock!...
(Ruth Caye Jones, Sing His Praise)
So my friend, be very sure you are “safe” in the Rock of Jesus Christ today!
