"Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law." Psalm 119:18
David prayed to the Lord to open his eyes so that he could understand the wonderful things about His Word. The law represents God’s Word, His Law. The song called, “Open My Eyes, That I May See” is a prayer song to the Lord. I am asking the Lord through the song to open my eyes that I may behold the wondrous things out of the law, the Bible, the Word. NCV says ‘Open my eyes to see the miracles in Your teachings.”
Other translations: Unveil (open hidden things) thou mine eyes that I may discern (able to see) wondrous things out of thy law—RHm. Take the veil (coverings) from my eyes, that I may see the marvels that spring (comes) from thy law—NEB. Give me discernment (understanding and see hidden things), that I may notice wonderful things in Your law—Har. Open my eyes: I shall concentrate (pay attention) on the marvels of Your Law—Jerus.
Proverbs 20:13b “Open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.” The Proverbs, the word of wisdom tells us to open our eyes and we will be satisfied with God’s Word as the Bread of Life. I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see what plan He has for you.
Song: Open My Eyes, That I May See
1. Open my eyes that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou has for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free:
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!
(Clara H. Scott, Sing His Praise)
(Illumine & illuminate= to make clear as explain
illuminated the point with good examples. As to say,
help me to understand better)
