The Haven of Rest

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.” Psalm 37:7a

The word, “rest” interest me to search the meaning, how do we rest in the Lord? Rest could be defined as to be free from anxiety or disturbance and be fixed in hope or confidence as rested our hopes on God. I visualized like a person in “rest” would be “drowned in the presence of God” and sing silence before Him.

One hearing lady told me that when she was in great pain, she lied down on the bed to pray. She entered into the presence of God for an hour and then she was completely healed. This is one of the ways to define the rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to heal you. The word, “haven” means a place of safety: shelter and also a port for the ship for the winter. So our place of safety is in the arms of Jesus. Jesus is often called, “The Haven of Rest.”

Song: The Haven of Rest
Chorus: I’ve anchored my soul ..
in the Haven of Rest,..
I’ll sail the wide seas no more;..
The tempest may sweep
o’er (over) the wild stormy deep;..
In Jesus I’m safe evermore....
(H.L. Gilmour, Melodies of Praise)

5. O come to the Savior, He patiently waits
To save by His power divine;
Come, anchor your soul in the Haven of Rest,
And say, “My beloved is mine.”

So trust God today!
