Psalm 17:8 Prayer of David
“Keep me as the apple of the eye …”
The apple of the eye means something greatly valued and something dear that belongs to God. David, the psalmist uses this statement, “The apple of the eye” to express God’s love and care for His faithful people. David had a great love for God and prayed to God from the whole chapter 17. David’s prayer looked back in the past how much God had loved and cared for him.
Acts 13:22 God said, “I have found David … A man after my own heart,” was the same as “David was the apple of His eye.” Our heavenly Father loves and cares for us just as we are “the apple of His eye.” It reminds me of a song, “We’ve got a great big wonderful God,” and there’s a line that says, “We’re the apple of His eye.” By now the song might have more meaning for us.
Song: We’ve God a Great Big Wonderful God.
We’ve got a great big wonderful God!
Great big wonderful God …
A God who’s always victorious,
Always watching over us-
Great big wonderful God …
We’ve got a great big wonderful God!
Great big wonderful God …
A God who loves every one of us,
does so much for all of us-
Great big wonderful God …
He never, never, never leaves us,
He’s always standing by
To pick us up if we stumble,
We’re the apple of His eye...
We’ve got a great big wonderful God!
Great big wonderful God …
O what a glory it is to sing
praises to the coming King
Great big wonderful God …
Our great.. big.. wonderful.. God ….!
