Fear Not

"I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand,
saying unto thee, Fear not." Isaiah 41:13a
Bread Box 2/26/10

Do you ever felt like 'fear' comes to you
unexpectedly even though you trust God?

I pulled the card verse from the Bread Box
and read "Fear not." Wow! God read my heart!
Isaiah 41:13 ncv: "I am the Lord your God,
who holds your right hand, and I tell you,
'Don't be afraid. I will help you.'"

Sometimes 'fear' of all kinds could 'hit'
us without a warning. So it is a comfort
to hear God say to us: "Fear not. I am
there for you. I will hold your hand."

So trust God today!

Dorothy

Song: The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power.

1. The Blood that Jesus shed for me,
'Way back on Calvary;
(chorus) The Blood that gives me
strength from day to day,
It will never lose its power.
It reaches to the highest mountain;
It flows to the lowest valley.
The Blood that gives me
strength from day to day,
It will never lose its power.

2. It soothes my doubts
and calms my fears,
And it dries all my tears;
(repeat the chorus above).

Come Close to God

David said: "It is good for me to
draw near to God ..." Psalm 73:28a
Bread Box 2/25/10

Why is it so important for us to
come close to God? Because Psalm
73:27 tells us that "Those who are
far from God will die; (God) destroy
those who are unfaithful."

So it is good for us to come closer
to God. NCV quote: "But I am close
to God, and that is good. The Lord
God is my protection" (Ps. 73:28ab).

So trust God today!

Dorothy

PS. 'I Am Thine, O Lord'

(Chorus)
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed
Lord, To Thy precious bleeding side.

First Verse:
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard
Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
(Then go to Chorus)

Greater Is He

"Greater is he (God) that is in you
than he (Satan) that is in the world."
1 John 4:4 Bread Box 2/24/10

Is there a battle going on inside of
you? John, the Beloved quote: "My dear
children, you belong to God and have
defeated them; because God's Spirit,
who is in you, is greater than the
devil, who is in the world" (ncv).

You have the Holy Spirit who dwells
inside of you and it takes your faith
with Holy Spirit's help to overcome
all things.

So trust God today!

Dorothy

PS. Found this song from 'Psalter.'

"Greater Is He that is within you
than he that is in the world.
Greater is He that is within you
than he that is in the world.
Greater than angels or powers.
Greater than this life or death.
Greater is He, greater is He:
Greater is Christ, our Lord."

He Cares

"Casting all your care upon Him;
for He careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7
Bread Box 2/23/10

Do you ever worried just a little tiny
bit? Know what Peter says about this?
"Give all your worries to Him, because
He cares about you" (ncv).

Careth means God continues to care about
you! It is not just one time or just one
day that God cares about you.

It is our God, our Father who continues
to care about you from day to day. So our
Father wants 100% of our worries given to
Him, not 99%.

So trust God today!

Dorothy

PS. I remember this song from someone
who sang to me, 'He careth for you.'

He .. careth for you ..
He .. careth for you ..
Through .. sunshine or sha .. dow ..
He .. careth for you ..

All I Have

"All I have is Yours, and all You have
is Mine." John 17:10a Bread Box 2/22:10

Jesus said to His Father, "I pray for
them. The disciples belong to You and
the disciples also belong to Me. They
are mine and Yours also."

Jesus knew that His very own disciples
would suffer for Him because they would
bring His Word to the world. He pray for
them to be strong.

"Not only I pray for (disciples), but
also for (you) who believe on Me through
(My) Word" (John 17:20).

Jesus made His prayer so personal about
you to His Father. He knows your suffering.
You belong to Him and Jesus belong to you.

This is a very close feeling from His heart
to His Dad and from His heart to you.

So trust God today.

Dorothy

PS. Old chorus I remember.
"Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time
alone, But for eternity."

First verse:
Jesus my Lord will love me forever;
From Him no power of evil can sever;
He gave His life to ransom my soul,
Now I belong to Him.

Voice of Your Cry

"At the voice of (your) cry: when (God)
shall hear it, (God) will answer (you)."
Isaiah 30:19cd. Bread Box 2/19/10

Do you ever felt like God doesn't really
hear you? Or answer your prayer?

This is a time to trust His Word. NCV
quote, "The Lord will hear your crying,
and he (God) will comfort you. When he
(God) hears you, he (God) will help you."

I remember a very old song on second
verse of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand"
by Thomas A. Dorsey, 1938 that seems
to fit this.

"When my way grows drear,
precious Lord, linger near,
when my life is almost gone;
hear my cry, hear my call,
hold my hand lest I fall:
Take my hand, precious Lord,
lead me home."

Trust the Lord today to hold
you to Him,

Comfortless

"I will not leave you comfortless.
I will come to you." John 14:18a
Bread Box 2/18/10

Jesus had been with His disciples
for three years. Jesus was giving
His "farewell" speech (John 13-17).
The Disciples felt like Jesus was
leaving them in their grief, and
they felt left alone. They were sad.

But Jesus promised: "I will not
leave you all alone like orphans;
I will come back to you"
(John 14:18 ncv). How?

The Holy Spirit came in a rushing
mighty wind and the disciples felt
Jesus was there when they were all
filled the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:1-4).

The disciples felt comfort to know
that Jesus had not abandon them.
They were thrilled to learn that
Jesus revealed Himself through the
power of the Holy Spirit.

Are you feeling alone? Jesus promised
"I will not leave you alone." He send
His Comforter, the Holy Spirit to you
(John 15:26).

So trust God today!

Dorothy

PS. Song by Anne S. Murphy
Constantly abiding,
Jesus is mine;
Constantly abiding,
rapture divine,
He never leaves me lonely,
whispers O so kind:
"I will never leave thee,"
Jesus is mine.

A Name

I woke up with an inspiration early
morning! I told the Lord my hands are
numb! (Had problem with it due to old
injury at work.)

God, the Father and Holy Spirit inspired
me with: Philippians 2:9b-10a
". . . a name which is above every name:
that at the name of Jesus every knee shall
bow . . .".

Prayer: In the name of Jesus all sickness,
all diseases and all ailments shall bow at
the name of Jesus. In Jesus' name!

Song: There's Something About That Name!

Jesus, Jesus, Je-sus;
There's just something about that name!
Master, Savior, Je-sus,
Like the fragrance after the rain;
Jesus, Jesus, Je-sus,
Let all Heaven and earth proclaim;
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there's something about that name!
(William J. + Gloria Gaither)

So trust God today!

His Hand

"And immediately Jesus stretched forth
His hand, and caught him . . ."
Matt. 14:31a "Bread Box" 2/12/10

Peter saw Jesus walks on the water and
the disciples cried out in fear. Jesus
calmed them. Wide-eyed Peter wanted to
walk on the water, too! And Peter did!
Then Peter felt the strong wind and
saw the huge waves! Opps, Peter sank!
Peter cried out.

Immediately Jesus reached out His hand
and caught Peter's hand. Both walked
together into the boat. (Matt. 14:22-32)

What made Peter doubted? He felt the
strong wind against him and the huge
waves scared him! Sounds like us
sometimes?

The good news? "Jesus reached out His
Hand" toward you and let Him catch you.

Have faith in Jesus today!

Dorothy

PS. Song collection
Reach out and touch the Lord as He walks by.
You'll find He's not too busy to hear your
hearts' cry. He is passing by this moment,
Your needs He'll supply. Reach out and
touch the Lord as He walks by.

A Well of Water

"The water that I (Jesus) shall give (you)
shall be in (you) a well of water springing
up into everlasting life." John 4:14b

Water ... Everlasting Life? Doesn't that blew
your mind? That's why we need Holy Spirit!

The Samaritan woman was looking for something to
satisfy her. She sensed something was missing
inside of her, but she doesn't know what it is.
Jesus knew her heart. Jesus came to the well to
talk about her needs. She tried everything, but
nothing works until she heard Jesus said,
"Ask Me to give you the living water"
(John 4:10). Story found in John 4:1-26.

Are you searching for something that doesn't
seem to satisfy you? If so, do you know what
is missing in you? Jesus has an answer for you,
"You are missing Me. You haven't drink My Living
Water. Come unto Me, and drink" (John 7:37b).

If you miss a day without any drinks, your body
become dehydrated (dry)! (Sometimes a person end
up in the hospital to receive an IV).

So if you miss a day without Jesus and His Word,
your spiritual life become dehydrated or become
dry! Any wonder why it is important just to read
His Word for a moment and say, 'Good morning, Jesus.
I need You and I love You.' Drink His Word and be
refreshed today.

So trust God today!!!

PS. I remember this chorus:
Drinking at the springs of living water,
Happy now am I, My soul they satisfy;
Drinking at the springs of living water,
O wonderful and bountiful supply.

Whoso Hearkeneth

"Whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely,
and shall be quiet from fear of evil."
Proverbs 1:33 From the Bread Box 2/10/10

Hearkenth means continue to listen to God
and His Word. What does listening to Him do
for us when we read any kind of daily
devotions? Or even just read through
the Bible?

Listening to God build a confident inside of us.
Listening to God brings a sense of security.
Listening to God calms our fears of future.
Listening to God build our characters and
it makes us stronger each day.
Listening to God brings inner peace when
troubles are all around us.

Like Jesus said, "Don't let your your hearts
be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in Me"
(John 14:1).

So trust God today!

Dorothy

PS. Chorus: Faith In God.
Faith in God can move
a mighty mountain.
Faith in God can calm
the troubled sea.
Faith can make the desert
like the fountain.
Faith will bring the victory.

God Remembered

"God remembered Noah ..." Genesis 8:1a
Bread Box 2/9/10

Do you ever felt like God has forgotten
about you sometimes? It seems like God
hasn't answered our prayers?

Noah and his family were in the ark for
a year (Gen 7:6; 8:13). After it rained
40 days, the water continued to cover the
earth for 150 more days. Noah had no idea
when God would intervene (help) again.

Then the Scripture said, "God remembered Noah."
God love Noah and his family so God made a wind
blow over the earth and the water went down. The
ark came to the mountain and rest there, but Noah
waited few more months for a dry land. Finally
God said to Noah, "You may come out ..." (Gen. 8:16).

Be confident that 'God remember you.' God will act
again. God will show His loving care toward you and
like Noah, you will hear God say, "You may come out ..."

It was a new beginning for Noah and his family so it
will be a new beginning for you.

So trust God today!

Dorothy
PS. Chorus might help.
Jesus will lead me night and day.
Jesus will lead me all the way.
He is the truest friend to me.
For I remember Calvary.

Set Me Up High

"He (God) shall set me up high
upon a rock" (Amp). Psalm 27:5c
From the Bread Box 1/8/10

Have you ever seen the waves at the
beach with higher rocks? Think about
the wave which would go back and
forth as it would "beat up" the rock?
Yet the rock stays firm and strong.

The waves could represent many things
that beats the life out of us. But in
the day of trouble, God will set you
up upon a rock of support and defense
against the waves.

God will hide you under the cover of
His Presence. . .

So trust God today!

Dorothy
PS. Like the chorus says:
This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He's the One;
This Rock is Jesus, The only One;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and
grips the Solid Rock!

Weapons of our Warfare 6

“We destroy people’s arguments and every proud thing that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4c-5 NCV

This subject “a life of righteousness” interests me to continue to study God’s Word. What is the proud thing that raises itself against the knowledge of God? One example of Jesus confronted the proud religious leaders.

I remembered from the movie, “The Gospel of John.” Christ had confronted the religious leaders who claimed the rights to change some of the laws or God’s Word to suit their needs. Jesus argued against them and said, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye DEVOUR WIDOWS’ HOUSES …” (Matthew 23:14b kjv).

One of Pharisees’ laws allowed them to take away things or houses from the widows. The widows did not have any protection when they lose a husband if he made a loan that could not be paid. The widows would have to go to the judge to get their rights of protection (Luke 18:3).

Many false religious leaders could twist the Word of God to suit their needs or reasons (Matthew 24:11). A person could lose “a life of righteousness” when there is no fear of God before their eyes (Romans 3:18 kjv). This is a weapon that the enemy uses “having no respect for God’s Word.”

By holding on to this spiritual weapon, “our life of righteousness in Christ” against the enemy, we, the born again believers will come forth victorious. Jesus said, “You that hold on to the end, you will be saved” (Matt. 24:13).

Weapons of our Warfare 5

“We destroy people’s arguments and every proud thing that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4c-5
New Century Version.

The Scripture says: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.” Paul listed some of these weapons. The second weapon is “a life of righteousness.” Paul talked a lot about righteousness in the book of Romans. Paul gave an example of Abraham: “Abraham believed God, and God accepted Abraham’s faith, and that faith made him right with God” (Rom. 4:3b).

“When people work, their pay is not given as a gift, but as something earned. But people cannot do any work that will make them right with God. So they must trust in (God), who makes even evil people right in (God’s) sight. Then God accepts their faith, and that makes them right with HIM” (Rom. 4:4-5).

“God makes people right with HIMSELF through their faith in Jesus Christ. This is true for all who believe in Christ, because all the people are the same” (Rom. 3:22). When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts, we are clothed in Christ’s righteousness so we are ‘in the right standing with God.’

Now, Paul talked about is “a life of righteousness.” This is a big subject so I will give one thing that is important. The world will know where we stand when we put our trust in Christ’s righteousness, not ours. By using this weapon “a life of righteousness” against the enemy, the church (born again believers) will come forth victorious.

(New Century Version translations were used).

All Things Work

"All things work together for
good to them that love God."
Romans 8:28a Bread Box 1/5/10

God has a plan for those who
love Him to be like His Son,
Jesus (Rom. 8:28b-30).

It is all about God building
a character inside of us. Our
character consists of weakness
and strength. A character is
a special way in which any
person feels, thinks, and
acts. A character means all
of the qualities or features
that we have in us.

"All things work together for
good" is not always easy to
understand. One is the happy
times and another is the painful
times and they are included in
building our characters.

Holy Spirit encourages us to
keep our faith in Him and His
work inside of us.

So trust God today!

Dorothy
PS. Sometimes song helps.
"On-ly be-lieve, on-ly be-lieve;
All things are possible, on-ly be-lieve;
On-ly be-lieve, on-ly be-lieve;
All things are possible, on-ly be-lieve."

Good Courage

"Be of good courage, and
he (God) shall strengthen
thine heart." Psalm 27:14b
From the Bread Box 2/4/10

When you face bad news or
problems, do you ever felt
like your heart 'sink'
(go lower) like a ship sank
in the water? The heart is
the center of our emotion
and it is a place where it
hits us very hard.

"Be brave and God will make
your heart stronger." Why?
So your heart could focus
better when you need to
work on something.

God will make your heart
to rise up and see God's
miracle.

So trust God today!

Dwell In Love

"(You) that dwelleth in love dwelleth
in God, and God in(you)." 1 John 4:16c
From the Bread Box 2/3/10

So where does "love" comes from?
It begin with "God is love"
(1 John 4:16b).

You who practice being a loving person,
it is clearly seen that God is in you
and God's presence is there with you.

John, the Beloved disciple said, "We
have known and believed the love that
God hath to us" (1 John 4:16a).

John has seen Jesus' loving personality
and it influenced him so much that he
was called the "Beloved Disciple." He was
able to say, "We know this by experience
and we trust the love that God has for us."

The verses remind us that being mean or
talk mean or sign mean doesn't really help
us being a loving person, doesn't it?

So trust God today to be a loving person!

Confess Jesus

"Whosoever shall confess that Jesus
is the Son of God . . ." 1 John 4:15a
From the Bread Box 2/2/10

Why is it so important to confess or
say what we believe? Because Jesus said,
"Whosoever therefore shall confess Me
before men, (you) will I confess also
before My Father which is in heaven."

John, the beloved disciple of Jesus
wrote that it is so important to say
for what we believe.

When I say, Jesus is the Son of God,
it means that I admit to be true. I
feel so good inside of me when I say
that Jesus is the Son of God.

Why is that? 1 John 4:15b says,
"God dwelleth in him (you) and he
(you) in God." Wow! God lives in me?
And I live in God?" What an honor!

So trust God today for having a
beautiful relationship with Him!

My Presence

"My presence shall go with thee, and
I will give you rest." Exodus 33:14
From the Bread Box 2/1/10

Moses prayed to God, "Show me Your way,
Your plans . . . that I may lead this
nation, Your people into the new land
flowing with milk and honey"
(Ex. 33:3a,12,13).

Moses may have felt such a heavy burden
and prayed to the Lord. God said, "My
Presence will go with you and I will
bring you to your resting-place."

Do you get scared and nervous to do
something new? God said, "I will go
with you and I will put you at ease
and give you success."

So trust God today!
