Happy New Year!

I Chronicles 4:9-10
KJV: And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. v10. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it might not grieve me! And God granted him that which he request.

NCV: There was a man name Jabez, who was respected more than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because she said, "I was in much pain when I gave birth to him." Jabez prayed to the God of Israel, "Please do good things for me and give me more land. Stay with me, and don't let anyone hurt me. Then I won't have any pain." And God did what Jabez had asked.

Dorothy: There is a book called, The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson. It is a small book and worthy to read. The Deaf Church also had videotaped Tony's preaching on the Prayer of Jabez around 1999. Now it is available on DVD. One set of Jabez's Five DVD. $10.00 or more donations to Deaf Prayer Partners Ministry, 1003 Arlene Court, #2, Bloomington, Illinois 61701 would be appreciated. Just ask for DVD on JABEZ ORDER. Donation is for the cost of DVD, copy, and postage fee. If you have any question, you can contact us on Video Phone at 309.103.1943. [By the way, Tony also have DVD on Revelation videotaped by Deaf Church in 1997]

Why we pick the prayer of Jabez for the year of 2009? We are asking for God's guidance day by day and that He would blessed us like He blessed Jabez. I believe God wants to bless you too.
Have a Happy New Year!

Conflict

"Don't shy away from conflict"
Isaiah 41:21
"Present your case," the Lord says.
"Bring forward your strong arguments."

My Son,
Having conflict in your life is normal. Only dead people have no conflict in their lives. Some people tend to shy away from conflict because it makes them nervous. They believe if they ignore it, it will go away. But that just doesn't happen.

If you ignored a wound, it would become infected and lead to other problems. Ignoring it wouldn't make it go away. The same is true about difficult situations in your life.

I don't want you to shy away from conflict. It isn't bad if you handle it well. If you approach the situation with confidence in me and love toward the other person or people, then you have the power to heal or to prevent the wounds of conflict. Turn to me, and let's face conflict together.

Your Mediator,
God
e-mail from God for Men by Andy Cloninger

Dorothy:
The phrase: shy away means don't push it away or wish for something better. The word conflict means struggle; fight; disagreement; clash; direct opposition. What this mean to me? Things don't always go the way I want. This is called 'conflict'. I am sure you may have face something that God put you there and you do not like it. This is called 'conflict'. The e-mail from God for Men touched my heart because I often struggle with several things. I had wondered if a struggle was okay or not. Then I open the book and God spoke to me about the conflict. I see that God was at work through my struggle or conflict. It made me realize that God do cares for me. I believe God is speaking to you today. Maybe you are going through the same thing. Just know that God loves you and so do I.

Many Deceivers

2 John 7-8
KJV: For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. v8. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
NCV: Many false teachers are in the world now who do not confess that Jesus Christ came to earth as a human. Anyone who does not confess this is a false teacher and an enemy of Christ. v8. Be careful yourselves that you do not lose everything you worked for, but that you receive your full reward.
AMP: For many imposters—seducers deceivers and false leaders—have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge (confess, admit) the coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, in bodily form; such a one is the imposter—the seducer, the deceiver, the false leader, the antagonist of Christ—and the Antichrist. v8. Take care; look to yourselves that you may not lose (throw away or destroy) all that we and you have labored for, but that you may [persevere until you] win and receive back a perfect reward—in full.

Summary Note:
John warns that many deceivers and false teachers are perverting [turn from the truth of] God’s Word and trying to persuade Christians to accept their views. Their false teaching concerns the person of Jesus Christ. They deny that Jesus Christ was the eternal Son of God, born of the virgin [Mat.1:18; Luke1:27], the blood of Jesus provides forgiveness for the sins of all who believe [1John2:2; 1John4:9-10] and who is “the true God, and eternal life” [1John5:20].

John loves the truth [2John1-3]. John loves and cares for others which show in the book of John how he reveals about Christ. The note explains that it is possible that some people will show love toward others, but not live by God’s truth about Jesus Christ. And also some people will promote God’s truth and doctrine of Christ and not show love and concern for others. What God wants is that we show both love for His truth and love for others. We must speak the truth in love [Eph.4:15; 1Cor.13:6].

What this means to me? About Christ and who He is. And what John is trying to tell us about the deceivers. Have you ever had someone who tried to change your belief and join their “other organization” that does not follow God’s truth and the teachings of Christ and apostles? What should you do? Study and check God’s Word. Always remember that Jesus is our strong foundation of salvation. Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that we stay true to You. Help us to be strong and know Your Word, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. I pray that the song will bless you.

Song: KEEP ME TRUE, LORD JESUS
Keep me true, Lord Jesus, keep me true;
Keep me true, Lord Jesus, keep me true;
There's a race that I must run,
There are victories to be won.
Give me power, every hour, to be true.

Merry Christmas!

Just want to wish you a Merry Christmas!

As for news, we had no power last Friday, Dec. 19th until Dec. 21, 2008 when we came home to check the power on late Sunday morning. We stayed at Double Tree Hotel which is across the lake from our apartment. It was like a special Christmas date on Saturday night when it got too cold to stay in our apartment on the second night with no power.

I had the Fresh Manna ready but no power and something came to me to go to Panera. I remembered they had wireless free so we went there on Saturday morning. I was able to transfer from document saved to Fresh Manna. Awesome that there was a way to do that when power went out.

It took more time to study the subject of the "Prophet" and be able to put them into Fresh Manna. I was just amazed how much information I have seen from Zondervan, The Full Life Study Bible presented. I was curious as to how this Bible was put together with so much information that enable me to study and share into Fresh Manna. I learned that Donald C. Stamps who was a missionary in Brazil. There were Christian workers who were in need of a Bible that would give them direction in their thinking and preaching.

In 1981 Donald Stamps began writing notes and articles for this work. When he came back to U.S., he discovered the same desire among pastors and lay people for a study Bible with notes that have a Pentecostal emphasis. It took him ten years to gather the notes. He died Nov. 7, 1991 after a year-long struggle with cancer. The group of committee helped to complete the Full Life Study Bible that Donald Stamps had put together.

I was truly blessed to use this wonderful Bible with so much notes which I was able to share with Fresh Manna. I pray that you be blessed as well.

Wolves

Matthew 7:20 NCV
“…you will know these false prophets by what they do.”
Matthew 7:15 NCV
“…They come to you looking gentle like sheep, but they are really dangerous like wolves.

Note: This is a warning from Jesus Christ who prophecy what the false prophets will do. In the New Testament times, they are called, ‘Professed Christians’ who declare openly what they believe. The word ‘profess’ means to declare or tell one’s belief and to pretend to be something when they are not. They will act like a true Christian and not follow the true teaching of Christ or apostles’ teaching like John, Peter and Jude. For example: They tell you that Jesus was not born in the flesh, yet they acted like a Christian. Jesus said, “They are really dangerous like wolves.”

What exactly do the wolves do? In some movies, have you ever seen the pack of wolves? They find something to eat and they attack animals or even a human being. They tear them to pieces to eat. It is not a pleasant thing to watch, but that is what wolves do. Have you ever met someone who really talks smoothly to begin with and then suddenly they change and try to convince you that their ‘false’ teachings are right. Inside of you, you felt crushed, confused, and lost. It can leads to emotional confusion if you don’t know the warnings from the Word of God. This is why Jesus warned about ‘Professed Christians’ who acted like “wolves” and going out to find those who they can change from what they believe in the Doctrine of Christ [2 John 1:9].

This is why John said, “…try (test) the spirits whether they are of God…” It means find the Word of God, the Sword and make sure they are not “wolves” who are out to destroy you. Study the Doctrine of Christ, the basic teachings from Apostles’ epistles (letters) from the Bible.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the words of warning that came from Your Son, Jesus Christ. He is truly a prophet who cares for His own sheep. I remember “Ivan” who stood for You and the Communist was like “wolves” trying to talk him out of his faith in You. When they didn’t succeed, they acted like wolves, stabbed him six times and beating his body until finally he died as a true Christian martyr [Jan 9, 2008 Fresh Manna]. My heart goes out to those new baby Christians who are learning to trust You and I pray they will stand for You in Jesus’ name, amen.

Prophet, What?

What is a prophet? In the Old Testament, we know that a prophet speak to people for God, but there is a lot more to study on that subject, the prophet or even the false prophet. We know that Jesus Himself was the prophet and He spoke for God, His Father. He was the true prophet because He told of many things what would happen in the future [Matthew 24-25]. Jesus wants us to identify (recognize) the work of the false prophets or false teachers. Why? So we could be better prepared to protect ourselves from falling out from our relationship with Jesus Christ and His teachings. We want to study His Word of warnings and stay close to Jesus and His teachings.

I will begin with an introduction from 1 John 4:1-3 NCV:
My dear friends, many false prophets have gone out into the world. So do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God. v2. This is how you can know God’s Spirit: Every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ came to earth as a human is from God. v3. And every spirit who refuses to say this about Jesus is not from God. It is the spirit of the enemy of Christ, which you have heard is coming, and now he is already in the world.

Note: The reason for testing every spirit (a person moved or inspired by a spirit) is that “many false prophets or false teachers” will enter the church. So how do we really test the spirits? John wants us to make sure that we know that Jesus came into the world. He was born in the flesh and He is the Son of God. There are people who will say, “Oh, Jesus came in the Spirit. He was never born in the flesh. He was just a Great Teacher.” John warned and said, “…this is that spirit of antichrist.”

What this means to me? Wow! I have put together a lot of articles into a small note book about the False Prophets that helps my study better. I really learn something and I want to share with you. This made me appreciate the Word of God more and more. It feels like something inside of me is growing. It is a blessing to study His Word. It made me appreciate the song called “Standing on the Promises.”

Jesus Prophecy False Prophets

Matthew 7:15-23 NCV
Theme: People Know You by Your Actions.
v15 Be careful of false prophets. They come to you looking gentle like sheep, but they are really dangerous like wolves. v16 You will know these people by what they do. Grapes don’t come from thornbushes, and figs don’t come from thorny weeds. v17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. v18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit. v19 Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. v20 In the same way, you will know these false prophets by what they do. v21 Not all those who that I am their Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. The only people who will enter the kingdom of heaven are those who do what my Father in heaven wants. v22 On the last day many people will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, we spoke for you, and through you we forced out demons and did many miracles.’ v23 Then I will tell them clearly, ‘Get away from me, you who do evil. I never knew you.’

Matthew 24:11-14
v11 Many false prophets will come and cause many people to believe lies. v12 There will be more and more evil in the world, so most people will stop showing their love for each other. v13 But those people who keep their faith until the end will be saved. v.14 the Good News about God’s kingdom will be preached in all the world, to every nation. Then the end will come.

Dorothy: For several days, I have studied about the false prophets. I struggled how it should be presented in the Fresh Manna. It may take several devotions to be able to ‘dig’ what the false prophets will be about. Please pray and allow Holy Spirit to be filled in us to open our mind, our hearts, and our inner spirit to see what Jesus wants us to know and understand His word.

What impressed me?
Matthew 24:12 “… so most people will stop showing their love for each other.” This is one dangerous sign we can notice if we lose love for one another. Jesus said to the disciples, “Love one another as I have loved you.” So to be able to keep loving others, allow Holy Spirit to fill us with God’s love inside of us. Just remember that to continue to show love to others is a sure way to keep the “good tree and produce good fruit of love.” May this be a blessing to keep in touch with the love of God in us.

To be continued about the “false prophets.”

The Flight of Egypt

[Continued from Magi from the East]
Matthew 2:10-11, 13-14 NCV
When the wise men saw the star, they were filled with joy. They came to the house where the child was and saw him with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their gifts and gave him treasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. After they left, an angel of the Lord came to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt, because Herod is starting to look for the child so he can kill him. Stay in Egypt until I tell you to return. So Joseph got up and left for Egypt during the night with the child and his mother. And Joseph stayed in Egypt until Herod died. This happened to bring about what the Lord had said through the prophet: “I called my son out of Egypt.” [Hosea 11:1 “…out of Egypt I called my son…”]

Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, the Gifts.
The angel warned Joseph that they must leave the town of Bethlehem and go to Egypt and live there until the angel tell them when it is time to go back home again. What did they live on? The three gifts that Magi, the Wise Men gave to him, gold, frankincense and myrrh. Frankincense and myrrh are the sweet smelling liquid used as perfume. They were very expensive. These Wise Men gave gifts to the Child to show that Jesus was worthy to receive honor and respect as a future king.

God had provided a way for Joseph, Mary and Jesus to use the gold, and perfumes that help to pay for their place to stay, pay for food and pay for clothing. And perhaps Joseph had to buy all the equipment to start his business as a carpenter for a living for awhile until it was time to go back to their homeland, Israel.

What does this mean to me?
Perfect timing that God led Magi to travel from afar to find Jesus and gave gifts so Joseph, Mary and Jesus could escape to Egypt from the rage of King Herod who wanted to kill Jesus. Why? Herod didn’t want another “King” as along as Herod was the only King. What Herod didn’t know that it wasn’t the time for Jesus to become the King anyway. God provided a way for them, gifts to meet their needs and escape to Egypt for safety. Reading this story inspired me to keep trusting God for all things. There is a song called, “We Three Kings of Orient Are” and chorus that I like to share.

“O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.”

Magi from the East

Matthew 2:1-4 New American Standard [NAS]
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of Jews? For we saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him.” And when Herod the king heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he began to inquire of them where the Christ was to be born. [Magi = 1. in the Bible, the Wise Men who brought gifts to the infant, Jesus. 2. priests of ancient Persia.]

Dorothy:
Interesting part was Magi. They were called the wise men, but what exactly was their job? [Note from Zondervan quoted: These men were probably members of a learned religious class from the region that is now called Iran. They specialized in astrology (study of stars), medicine, and natural science. Their visit occurred when Jesus was between 40 days and 2 years old. The importance of this story is that Jesus is worthy of royal honor from all humanity, and Gentiles as well as Jews are included in God’s redemptive (salvation) plan.]

Next interesting thing: King Herod became alarmed about another ‘king’ so he called for chief priest and scribes who were teachers of the Law and they studied the prophecies from the Scripture in Old Testament. So Herod asked them a question, where would Christ be born? Matthew 2:5 And they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for it has been written by the prophet…” I discovered that they had read from the book of Micah 5:2 and I was inspired! Why? It was 700 years later that God led ‘Magi, the Wise Men’ from Persia [Iran] to travel a long way to Jerusalem. The Magi were following the Star to Jerusalem and the Star must have disappeared because Matthew 2:9 says “…they went their way; and lo, the star, which they had seen in the east, went before them, until it (the star) came and stood over where the Child was.

What this means to me?
It is just the way God does things. I noticed something that the Star led Magi to Jerusalem and Magi didn’t know where Christ would be born and they started asking question. It seems that God wanted to bring attention to all people of Jerusalem that Christ was already born. Magi found out from the chief priests and the scribes that Micah prophesied that Christ would be born in Bethlehem. After they have left, the Star appeared to Magi and the Star led them to the Child. They fell down and worshiped Christ. There is a Christmas song called, ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ and you can find them in a song book.

To be continued.

Micah Prophecy Bethlehem

Micah 5:2
NCV: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are too small to be among the army groups from Judah, from you will come who will rule Israel for me. He comes from very old times, from days long ago.” KJV: “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

Luke 2:4-7a So Joseph left Nazareth, a town in Galilee, and went to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, known as the town of David. Joseph went there because he was from the family of David. Joseph registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was now pregnant. While they were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to have a baby, and she gave birth to her first son.

Matthew 2:1 “Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea…”

Matthew 2:9,11 The angel of the Lord said to them…“Today your Savior was born in the town of David, He is Christ, the Lord.” Matthew 2:15 “…the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem…”

New Testament Fulfilled 700 Years Later
Micah gave this prophecy that Christ will be born in Bethlehem. Micah prophesied that Christ is an everlasting God. He would be born in a human flesh and He would be the Son of Man and Son of God. This prophecy was made 700 years before His birth. This is two fold prophecies: First, Christ to be born in Bethlehem and second, Christ will rule someday. First was fulfilled. The second, Christ will come again and this is still a prophecy that is not yet fulfilled

Dorothy: What is the point of all this?
God gave prophecy to Micah where Christ will be born and it was fulfilled 700 years later! God even used Augustus Caesar to send an order that all people in the countries under Roman rule must list their names in a register. This was the first registration. All went to their own towns to be registered [Luke 2:1-7]. This is where Joseph had to leave Nazareth and go to the town of Bethlehem because he was from the family of David. God gave prophecy to inspire us, to touch our hearts so that we would praise the Lord for His greatness, for His mercy and for His love for us. May God touch your heart today.

Strength of the Lord

Zechariah 10:12
NCV: "I will make my people strong, and
they will live as I say," says the Lord.

KJV: "And I will strengthen them in the
Lord; and they shall walk up and down in
his name," saith the Lord.

Song: In the Name of the Lord
There is strength in the name of the Lord;
There is power in the name of the Lord;
There is hope in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

[Lyrics and Music: Phill McHugh, Gloria Gaither,
Sandi Patti Helvering]

Grace & Strength

2 Corinthians 12:9a [God said to Paul]
KJV: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my
strength is made perfect in weakness.”
NCV: “My grace is enough for you. When you
are weak, my power is made perfect in you.”

Song: At Calvary

Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty,
At Cal – va – ry….
[Lyrics: William R Newell]
[Music: Daniel B. Towner]

Dorothy: What is grace?
Grace is God's presence, favor, and power. It is a force, a heavenly
strength given to you who call upon God. This grace will come down
upon you, the faithful believer who accepts the weaknesses and
difficulties for the gospel's sake. When our weakness and trials for
Christ is too great to bear, God will give us more grace to do what
He wants us to do. What He gives is always enough for us to live our
daily lives, to work for Him, and to endure our suffering. When we
come near to Christ, Christ will give His heavenly strength and
comfort on us.

Like Paul, when we say, our weakness bring glory to God and the
power of Christ will come upon us and live within us as we look
forward to our heavenly home. Heavenly Father, I pray for strength
and healing for our weak bodies and that we will glorify You because
of Your love for us. Thank You for Your presence, Your favor and
Your power upon us in Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Memory of song came to me: Grace, grace, God's grace, Grace that
will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, God's grace, Grace
that is greater than all our sin. May God bless you today.

Come unto Me

Song: Come unto Me
1. Hear the blessed Savior calling the oppressed,
“O ye heavy laden, come to Me and rest;
Come, no longer tarry, I your load will bear;
Bring Me every burden, bring Me every care.”
Chorus:
Come unto Me; I will give you rest;
Take my yoke upon you, Hear Me and be blest;
I am meek and lowly, Come and trust My might;
Come, My yoke is easy, And My burden’s light.

2. Are you disappointed, wandering here and there,
dragging chains of doubt and loaded down with care?
Do unholy feelings struggle in your breast?
Bring your case to Jesus, He will give you rest.
[Chorus]

Matthew 11:28,29,30 Jesus said,
KJV: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek
and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your
soul. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

NCV: “Come to me, all of you who are tired and
have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept
my teachings and learn from me, because I am
gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest
for your lives. The teaching that I ask you to accept
is easy; the load I give you to carry is light.”

Renew Strength

Isaiah 40:31
"They that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength; they
shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint."

Song: They That Wait Upon The Lord.

They that wait upon the Lord shall
renew their strength, they shall
mount up with the wings as an eagle;
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.
Teach me Lord, teach me Lord to wait....

Dorothy:
It will be a busy month of December and
remember to keep in touch with Jesus.
Dear Lord, keep us close to You. We love
You. Wash us with the Blood of Jesus.
In Jesus' name, Amen!
