Wait

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew
their strength." Isaiah 40:31b
Bread Box 4/30/10

Are you tired? Are you losing strength?
NCV says, "But the people who trust the
Lord will become strong again. They will
rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will
run and not need rest; they will walk and
not become tired." Isaiah 40:31

When we wait upon the Lord, what do we
get? Strength to revive us from exhaustion,
weakness, suffering and trial.

Have you ever watch eagle that soars into
the sky? An eagle fly against the strong
wind and then rise above into the smooth
current wind and fly easily.

Waiting on the Lord gives us the ability
to rise above our difficulties just like
an eagle that fly against the strong wind.

So let's trust God today!

Song: Wait on the Lord.
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew
their strength, They shall mount up with
wings as the eagles, They shall run and
not be weary, They shall walk and not
faint, Teach me Lord, teach me Lord to wait.

Praise him

"And at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed,
and sang praises to God ..." Acts 16:25a
"... and every one's bands were loosed."
Acts 16:26c Bread Box 4/29/10

Do you sometimes felt like your inner
spirit are bound? A story of Paul and
Silas reminds us what praising God could
do. Praising God will loosen up our
spiritual bondage.

Praising God is like a switch that light
up the city even your household and light
up inside of us.

Praising God is like a two-edged sword, one
side bringing health to your own spirit and
the other side cutting down the enemy. That's
how powerful praising God could do.

So let's praise Him today!

Most beloved song:
Praise Him in the morning,
Praise Him at noon time,
Praise Him, Praise Him,
Praise Him when the sun goes down.

Be Joyful

"... the Lord had made them joyful ..."
Ezra 6:22
And ". . . the joy of the Lord is
your strength." Nehemiah 8:10

I remember a story of Corrie Ten Boom during
1950's in another country. She visited one
institution where some people were war victims.

They gathered together to listen to Corrie.
As she was sitting, she described the atmosphere
were so gloomy and the faces of the people were
so sad, depressed and war-scarred.

She felt helpless as to what could she say to
them. Then the Lord told her to say something
joyful from the Bible verses. She acted happy
and sang several songs of joy.

Later, she felt guilty as to why the Lord
would have her do that. One of the workers
said that she was glad that Corrie did the
joyful speech because she had "planted seeds
of joyfulness" in their hearts. Soon they would
come out of their gloomy atmosphere. They just
forgot what's like to be happy again.

If you are going through gloomy or moody time,
find joyful messages in the Bible. Act out in
faith against your feelings that pulled you down.

So be joyful in the Lord today!

Song: Joy Unspeakable

It is joy unspeakable and full of glory,
Full of glory, full of glory;
It is joy unspeakable and full of glory,
Oh, the half has never yet been told.

His Name

At 5:30 a.m. I woke up with two songs given
to me by Holy Spirit as I began to worship
God. My prayer songs goes to you as some of
you are suffering. When I feel helpless how
to pray for you, Holy Spirit would lead me
to worship our Heavenly Father. I have heard
of testimonies that when we enter into His
Presence as we sing, the healing will flow
into our bodies that we either endure them
or receive deep healing from Him.

(This is Tony's favorite)
His name is higher than any other,
His name is Jesus, His name is Lord,

His name is higher than any other,
His name is Jesus, His name is Lord.

His name is Wonderful, His name is Counselor,
His name is Prince of Peace, The Mighty God,

His name is higher than any other,
His name is Jesus, His name is Lord.
(Author unknown)

Song: That Name

Je-sus, Je-sus, Je--sus- There's just something
about that name! Mas-ter, Sav-ior, Je-sus-
Like the fra-grance after the rain;
Je-sus, Je-sus, Je--sus- Let all heaven and
earth pro-claim; Kings and kingdoms will all
pass away, But there's something about that name!
(William J. & Gloria Gaither)

John 4:23b
". . . when the true worshipers shall worship
the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father
seeketh such to worship Him."

Our Heavenly Father is looking for someone to
worship Him and to love Him with all our hearts!

Heartily

"... do it heartily, as to the Lord ..."
Colossians 3:23
"Do all things without complaining."
Phil. 2:14 Bread Box 4/26/10

Did you know that you shall receive the
reward from the Lord when you help or
serve others joyfully? (Colossians 3:24)

We could lose reward by complaining.
Complain lessen the love of God in our
hearts. "When the people complained,
it doesn't make the Lord very happy"
(Numbers 11:1).

To do it "heartily" is like you love to
help others in need. Just like you love
to serve the Lord and you are happy to
help others with no complaining in your
mind and heart.

Let's do it heartily unto others as you
would unto the Lord!

My favorite song:
If you want to be great in God's kingdom,
then learn to be servant of all,
If you want to be great in God's kingdom,
then learn to be servant of all.
Learn to be servant of all;
Learn to be servant of all.
I'll open a river when thou art a giver
and learn to be servant of all.
(Mark 9:35 word + song by Author unknown)

His Shoulders

"... he (we) shall dwell between His
shoulders." Deuteronomy 33:12

This is a prophecy about the coming
Messiah and what He will do. He will
be like a Shepherd who will carry "the
lost and weary lamb" over His shoulders.

A father and a little boy were hiking.
The little boy was very active and walked
too fast. Then the little boy's legs grew
tired. "Dad, will you carry me?" Dad replied,
"oh yes" and took his child on his shoulders.

If you felt weary and tired, ask the Shepherd,
"Jesus, will You carry me?" Jesus will reply,
"Oh yes, I will carry you over My shoulders
and you rest in Me. Just trust Me."

Oh, what a beautiful Shepherd Jesus is right
now for us. We will find rest, for "(we) the
beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by
Him, who shelters him (us) all the day long;
and he (His people)shall dwell between His
shoulders" (Deut. 33:12).

Trust your Shepherd today!

PS. Song: He Will Carry You

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen, and keep you;
He is willing to aid you--
He will carry you through.

Treasured

Thy word have I hid in mine heart....
Psalm 119:11a Bread Box 4/22/10

Why is it important to hide His Word
in our hearts? Jeremiah, the prophet
tells us that "The heart is deceitful
above all things,and desperately wicked:
who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9).

Without His Word in my heart, I might
make more mistakes by doing things my
own way. So I quote His Word and put
them in mine heart ".... that I might
not sin against (God)" (Ps. 119:11b).

Another translation: "I have treasured
Your promises in my heart, since I have
no wish to sin against you"--Jerus.

So let's 'treasure' God's Word today!

Song of Promise:
Every promise in the book is mine,
Every chapter, every verse, every line;
I am trusting in His love divine,
Every promise in the book is mine.

Mine, mine, mine, Jesus is mine
Mine when I'm weary, mine when I'm dreary;
Mine, mine, mine, Jesus is mine,
Mine all the time, yes, He's mine.

The Brokenhearted

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted,
and he (God) saves those whose spirits
have been crushed." Psalm 34:18 (ncv)
Bread Box 4/21/10

There is a saying, "God can only use
broken things." Out of a broken thing,
God brings forth a miracle.

To Moses, God said, "I have heard the
cries of my people who have been "crushed
under slavery" and I have called you to go
and deliver them out of Egypt."

During 400 years of living in Egypt, people
had been praying for freedom from afflictions.
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the Lord delivereth him out of them all"
(Psalm 34:19 kjv).

Moses led them and they had seen God's miracles
in His time. If your heart is broken, remember
this story and His promises.

Prayer song usually brings comfort and peace:

Set my spirit free that I might worship Thee.
Set my spirit free that I might praise Thy name.
Let all bondage go, and let deliverance flow.
Set my spirit free to worship Thee.
(John Haddock)

The Lord is with you and by faith He already
set you free in Jesus' name. Amen!

Will Not Leave

"Those who know the Lord trust Him ..."
(ncv). Psalm 9:10a Bread Box 4/20/10

How do we know that we can trust the Lord?
"Because He will not leave those who come
to Him." Psalm 9:10b (ncv).

This is a wonderful promise about trusting
our Lord! And a wonderful promise that God
will not leave us when we come to our
Heavenly Father.

It takes faith to keep on trusting God that
He will finish the work of healing inside
of us in Jesus' name.

So let's trust God today!

Song: Keep on Believing

Keep on believing,
God will answer prayer;
Keep on believing, Never despair;
Tho' you be heavy laden and
burdened down with care,
Remember God still loves you
and He answers prayer.

God's Command

"These words which I (God) command you
today shall be in your heart." nkjv
Deuteronomy 6:6a Bread Box 4/19/10

Deut. 6:6-7 talked about passing on God's
Word to next generations. "You shall teach
them diligently to your children ..."

During Moses' time, the family did not have
the Bible so the family would talked about
God's Words very often.

How often did God wants them to talk about
His Word? When you sit to eat, when you
walk by the way, when you lie down and
when you get up.

What do we have today that they didn't have
back then during Moses' time? Think.

For me, right now? The pager Blackberry to
share the card verse from the "Bread Box"
and that was God's command to me to share
His Words to you. I would put into website,
the Blogger for those who do not have pager.

What about you? What do you have that you
can share with your friends or your family?

Let's obey God's command and share His words
in many different ways!

Song collection:
If Jesus said it, I'll believe it,
God's Word cannot lie,
If it's written in the Bible,
I'll believe 'til I die,
Tho' the mountain be removed
and cast into the sea,
God's Word will live forever
through all eternity!

He Giveth Grace

". . . but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4:6c

What is the opposition of being humble?
James 4:6b says, "God resisteth the proud."

Sometimes when we do the wrong things and our
inner spirit does not feel comfortable, we are
not proud when we come before God. That is when
we need God's grace and forgiveness to wash us
with the blood of Jesus.

There's a song written by Claire Clonginger,
1986; based on 2 Chron. 7:14. God speaks:
"If My people's hearts are humbled,
If they pray and seek My face,
If they turned away from evil,
I will not withhold (hold back) My grace.
I will hear their prayers from heaven;
I will pardon every sin.
If My people's hearts are humbled,
I will surely heal their land."

"Then My eyes will see their sorrow,
Then My ears will hear their plea;
If My people's hearts are humbled
I will set their nation free;
If My people's hearts are humbled,
If they pray and seek My face,
If they turn away from evil,
I will not withhold (hold back) My grace."

God's song of pleading us, motivated
me to stay close to Him. The words give
us a deep feeling of prayerful song of
being humble before Him.

In My Distress

"In my distress (humble) I called upon the Lord,
and cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of
His temple, and my cry came before Him, even
into His ears." Psalm 18:6

When we come before the Lord, sometimes we
can't find words to express our feelings.
Psalms and songs often help to give us words
to express our humble hearts before the Lord.

Song to share:
When My Savior Reached Down For Me.

2. I was near to despair
when He came to me there,
And He showed me that I could be free;
Then He lifted my feet,
gave me gladness complete,
When He reached down His hand for me.
Chorus:
When my Savior reached down for me,
When my Savior reached down for me;
I was lost and undone,
without God or His Son,
When my Savior reached down for me.

His Hands on Me

There's another chorus that I remember from
Oral Robert's Crusade (Tent Meeting) in 1950's
when I went my mother.

Years later, I had Oral Robert's song book and
I lost it, but the word stays in my heart for
almost 60 years. The reason Oral had people
sang this chorus was during the healing meeting.
Oral laid hands on each individual from the waiting
line. And Oral had people sang this to visualize
Jesus' hands reaching down to the people for healing.

It's awesome because the Holy Spirit brought back
words that I have not sung for a long time and now
I believe He wants to bring healing to all of us.

The words kept singing in my soul today. I hope you
don't mind me sharing this with you. It feels like
a prayer for all of us. (I was sending out from my
pager)

Song sang at Tent Meeting:

"When He reached down His hands for me.
When He reached down His hands for me.
I was lost and undone,
Without God or His Son,
When He reach down His hands for me.

(I am not sure if it's the same author
otherwise it's unknown).

Be Made Low

"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
and He shall lift you up." James 4:10

Humble is another meaning of "be made low
in presence of the Lord" by Rhm.

Ruby Stecca of DVC of Chicago, Illiois is battling
against infection in her body that kept the surgery
postpone since April 6. She shared her "feeling of
being low before the Lord." It is the patience of
waiting for the infection to heal so she could have
surgery. So let us come before the Lord in lowly
spirit with Ruby and pray with her. (Ruby is the one
that helps David Stecca with video at Deaf Video
Communication).

Prayer: Dear Lord, we come to You lowly in spirit
and we bring Ruby before You at the throne of God
and ask You Heavenly Father for a deep healing of
her infection and her cancer. We bow our hearts
before You and asking You for a miracle of Ruby
Stecca. We believe together in Jesus' name we pray.
Amen!

Let's trust God together and support her in prayer!

Dorothy
PS. Prayer Chorus:
When my Savior reached down for me,
When my Savior reached down for me;
I was lost and undone,
without God or His Son,
When my Savior reached down for me.

1. Once my soul was astray
from the heavenly way,
And was wretched and vile as could be;
But my Savior in love
gave me peace from above,
When He reached down His hand for me.

Humble: Continue

"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
and he (God) shall lift you up." James 4:10

There were questions and discussion about
the topic "humble" so this week we will
focus on that.

Humble means low in position or condition;
not important. A person showing a feeling
not important; not proud; very polite;
show respectful.

Best example: The soldiers came to Jesus
and Jesus could have fight back, but He
didn't. Jesus hand over His hands and
they tied him. That's humble!

Jesus stood before the Pilate. He could
have called 10,000 angels to show His
power, but Jesus didn't. That's humble!

Humble does not always mean bow down to
the floor, but what's in your heart shows
the fruit of your character. One Deaf told
me that some deaf wants things or information
'NOW.' That's not humble.

Humble means to be polite and be nice to wait
for its time.

So let's wait before the Lord to work things out!

Humble?

Good morning! Now that we're home from Canada,
and it's Monday! I asked, "Lord, what verse
for me today?" Verse Card Bread Box 4/12/10

"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
and he (God) shall lift you up." James 4:10

After the big event in Canada, we're back to
reality, yet memory of meeting old and new
friends at Canada stays in our hearts. It was
awesome! Someone asked, "What were you doing
there at Canada?" Oh, Tony was asked to preach
to Deaf Men Fellowship. So I thought to join
with him and attend 30th Anniversary of Deaf
Women Conference. I get to meet many friends.

What impressed us was seeing quite a number
of older people in their 80's and 90's. Tony
said that they acted like they're 40's or 50's
and boy, they loved the Lord! What was their
secret? "Humble your yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and (God) has lifted them
up." God has blessed them!

You know, in my secret thought. I question
myself about how am I going to survive in
getting old in serving the Lord? Then I met
many older Canadian people. It is as if God is
saying to me, "Does that answer your question?"
Oh my, God read my secret thought so.... He
really cares, doesn't He?

I am trusting God today!!!

Dorothy
PS. So God will lift me up as long as I humble
myself in the sight of the Lord! Awesome!

Waiting at Airport

We were going to Canada to stay with friends
for weekend Conferences, Deaf Men and Women.

I have "Our Daily Bread" a very small booklet
by RBC (Radio Bible Class) Ministries. I read
them. You can order from www.rbc.org. They
have enlarge print upon request. Tony reads
them daily. It has a very good illustration
and stories.

I like April 6 devotion, "For This I Have Jesus."
This inspired me because the evangelist preached
about what it means to abide in Christ and to
trust Him completely in every trial. You can
keep on saying, 'For this I have Jesus.'

A young woman gave a testimony that she received
a telegram that her mother was ill and was to
take the train home right away. She felt that
what Evangelist had preached, the message was
for her. Her heart looked up and said, 'For
this I have Jesus'. Peace and strength flooded
her soul.

If you endure a great trial of affliction,
remember this: "For this you have Jesus."

Hebrew 13:5
I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Casting?

I want to share what really helped me
understand why we need to exhort or
encourage one another daily.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He
cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 4/8/10

It impressed me how anyone even any ministers
can become depressed and that 1 Peter 5:7,
God's Word has the answer. BUT. . . . .

How do we cast our cares to God? The word CAST
is like you throw yourself into the arms of God
who cares more than you do. Give it over to God.
Ask for His help. Search the Scriptures. God has
a promise for you.

Dean Hardy shared his other meaning on "Casting."
One way I've illustrated 'casting' is to use the
word in the context of fishing ... When we cast
our line we must let go of the line & let it fly
free. Just in the same way we need to 'let go' of
all our worries, cares, concerns, etc & let it fly
to Jesus where He takes them upon Himself. Dean

All the more reason is for us to trust God today
because we need to believe that God does care.

PS. Dean Hardy is from Canada. His ministry is
Deaf Team Ministry at Ottawa, Ontario.

Does Jesus Care?

Casting all your care upon Him, for He
cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Charles Spurgeon was an old time preacher and he
told a story to his students the dangers of being
discourage and depression in the ministry.
Depression would hit mostof the ministers. "The
strong are not always vigorous (full of energy),
the wise not always ready, the brave not always
courageous, and the joyous not always happy."

Charles Spurgeon told a story about Rev. Frank
Graeff who was born in 1860. He was called,
"Sunshine Minister" because of his radiant
personality. The children loved him.

But as Spurgeon said, "the joyous are not
always happy." Frank faced many heartbreaks
that shattered his spirits, and found himself
in the new experiences, the valley of deep
depression (sadness, feeling low, gloomy),
and despondency (loss of courage or hope).

After a long time being in deep shadow,
darkness, and low in spirits with sadness,
he collapsed (fall in) into the Everlasting
Arms of God. He was singing "What a friend
we have in Jesus, All our sins and grief to
bear, what a privilege to carry, Everything
to God in prayer." The truth of 1 Peter 5:7
suddenly took hold of him and Frank wrote
a song "Does Jesus Care?"

O yes, He cares; I know He cares;
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary,
the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
(Book, Then Sings My Soul, 150 of the World's
Greatest Hymn Stories by Robert J. Morgan)

My summary on the meaning of the word, "cast."
How do we cast our cares to God? The word CAST
is like you throw yourself into the arms of God.
Give yourself over to God who has the power to
help you. This is awesome when you think about
it. Trust God. He cares.

The Father Ran

"When he was still a great way off,
his father saw him and had compassion,
and ran ... and kissed him." Luke 15:20a

Do you sometimes ever felt like you
were far away from God? Does He care
how you feel right now?

Look! Remember the story of a prodigal
son. Jesus is the only One who knows
what is in His Father's own heart.
Jesus told this story to you what
kind of God He is right now.

Your Heavenly Father saw you acting
shy and too embarrass to come close
to Him. And you might say, "I am not
worthy."

Still your Heavenly Father "ran" to
YOU! Your Heavenly Father "hugged"
YOU and "kissed" YOU! Why? Because
you are forgiven through Christ's
blood and God welcome you into His
arms of loving care! Oh yes, He cares!

Oh, just trust your heavenly Father
today!

Dorothy
PS. Appreciation song:
Heavenly Father, I appreciate You.
Heavenly Father, I appreciate you.
I love You, I adore You;
I bow down before You.
Heavenly Father, I appreciate You.

Rest From Sorrow

"The Lord shall give thee rest from
thy sorrow." Isaiah 14:3a Bread Box

Sorrow takes up much strength and
energy so it is important to rest
from sorrow. How? "Rest in theLord,
and wait patiently for Him and fret
not thyself ..." (Psalm 37:7a).

Rest means do something refreshing
that will give you joy because "Joy
of the Lord is your strength and He
is your life" (Nehemiah 8:10).
Fret not means do not worry or wear
yourself out over little things.

So it is important to trust
the Lord right now!

Dorothy

PS. Song: Joy of the Lord
The joy of the Lord is my strength
and He is my life.
The joy of the Lord is my strength,
and He is my life.
He giveth me the victory when my heart
is filled with praise to Thee.
The joy of the Lord is my strength
and He is my life.

Communion Song
I just had communion at 4 a.m. this early morning. Why?
Because I want to remind myself through my eyes of faith
on the cross of Jesus and claimed the blood of Jesus and
the healing power for my body. Jesus said, "Do this in
remembrance of Me." We have communion often so
we would not forget His promises.

Many times Tony and I would sense "wilderness" experience
and often we felt uneasy (not comfortable with blank
feelings) and often we wondered why we are here. There
are time we felt so "quiet" and we were not used to it,
so we have communion with a communion song to remember
Jesus' word, "Remember Me". His Word assured us that we
are still His children and it was His plan for us to be
here in Bloomington, Illinois.

I thought you would like to see the Communion Song that
Tony and I used it often just to hold on to His Word,
"Remember Me". There may be times you might go through
the "dark time" or "wilderness experience", I encourage
you to try the communion and the song. The song uplift
us and peace follow through when we remember His Covenant.
We choose one of two songs at each communion.

COMMUNION SONG
1. Take this bread I give to you, and as you do, remember Me.
This bread is my body--broken just for you.
Take it, eat it, each time you do; remember Me, remember Me.
2. Take this cup I fill for you, and as you do, remember Me.
This cup is the new covenant I'm making with you.
Take it, drink it, each time you do, remember Me, remember Me.
3. Take this love I've given you, and as you do, remember Me.
(Word and music by Barry McGuire)

WE REMEMBER YOU
As we drink this cup, we worship You;
As we eat this bread, we honor You;
And we offer You our lives as
You have offered Yours for us.
We remember all You've done for us,--
We remember Your covenant with us,--
We remember, and worship You, O-- Lord.----

A Quiet Spirit

Verse for the Day: I Peter 3:4
". . . a meek and quiet spirit which is
in the sight of God of great price" (KJV).

". . . a gentle and quiet spirit which is
of a great worth in God's sight" (NIV).

After a troubled day of April first, today
God revived me with this verse of 'a gentle
and quiet spirit.' He restored me and helped
me to remember to:

"Be still, and know that I am God ..."
(Psalm 46:10).
"... ye study to be quiet, and to do your own
business, and to work with your own hands ... "
(1 Thess. 4:11).

A quiet spirit set these things aside and put
them under control by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord for reminding us
to put our trust in You!

Dorothy

PS. Song by Wes Tuttle
In the quiet of the morn-ing,
I will worship Your name.--
I will lift my voice with sing-ing--
to praise You a-gain.-- For it fills my
heart with glad-ness-- that remains through
the day,-- In the quiet of the morn-ing,--
I will worship Your name.--

Midst of Trouble

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
thou wilt revive me." Psalm 138:7a

My heart sunk like a ship went down in
the ocean. Do you ever felt like that
sometimes?

Then I took out the verse card. I was
surprised to see the word, "revive."
Where have I seen this word before?
A song! So I look it up. So my heart
needs to be revived?

The word revive means bring back or
come back to life. 2. bring or come
back to a fresh, lively condition.

Only God can bring back what was 'lost'
in our heart toward Him. Only God can
restore us again so let us pray.

Prayer: "Lord, even when I have trouble
all around me, You will keep me alive.
When my enemies are angry, You will reach
down and save me by Your power. Lord, You
do everything for me. Lord, Your love
continues forever. Do not leave us, whom
You made" (Psalm 138:7-8 ncv).

Prayer song: Revive Us Again
Revive us again; fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.
Chorus: Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Hallelujah! Amen;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, revive us again.
