Luke 2:25 KJV
And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
Note: WAITING FOR THE CONSOLATION (Comfort)
In a time of deplorable (miserable, sorrow time) spiritual conditions righteous Simeon was devoted to God and filled with Holy Spirit, waiting in faith, patience, and great longing for the coming of the Messiah. Likewise (the same way), in the last days of this present age, when many abandon (gave up) the N.T. apostolic faith and the blessed hope for the coming of Christ (Titus 2:13), "there will always be the faithful Simeons". Others may place their hope in this life and this world, but the faithful will be like the loyal slave who keeps watch through the long, dark night, waiting for the return of his Master (Mat.24:45-47). Our greatest blessing is to see face to face "The Lord's Christ" (kjv v.26; Rev.22:4), to be ready when He comes, and to dwell forever in His presence (Rev. 21-22).
What this note means?
Israel people were under the empire of Romans and it was a depressing time. But Simeon and Anna kept themselves in touch with Holy Spirit and Holy Spirit was able to lead Simeon and Anna to see baby Jesus face to face. They were thrilled that salvation had come. They were comforted that they saw Jesus and they thanked God that time had finally arrived after long waiting for the Messiah, the Christ.
... "there will always be the faithful Simeons." It means we, the people who are like Simeon, will not give up our faith and blessed hope for coming of Christ. We will be faithful and keep watching for the coming of Christ and we will keep in touch with Holy Spirit and He will prepare us when Christ called us home.
Chorus:
Face to Face I shall behold Him, Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!
Dorothy: The Song "Face to Face" will help us remember that we will see Him some day. Oh that blessed day is coming, my friends. Do not give up the faith and the blessed hope of Jesus Christ. He is coming. Let the Holy Spirit keep our hearts aflame for our coming Messiah.
