Never Be Thirsty - 12/24

John 4:14a, NCV "But who ever drinks the water I give will never be thirsty ..."

The story of Samaritan woman who came to the well to get the water pour into the pot. She would then carry the pot of water over her head or shoulder whatever she could carry the weight easily. But then that is when Jesus asked her for a water to drink.

From there, the Samaritan woman discovered that Christ was that living water and she wants to drink it forever and never have to thirst again. Do you ever get thirsty when there was a time when you got too busy for Christ? It is good to be reminded that Christ is our living water. Let us drink His Word.

SONG: SPRINGS OF LIVING WATER
Drinking at the springs of living water,
Happy now am I, My soul they satisfy;
Drinking at the springs of living water,
O wonderful and bountiful supply.

Be Strong 12/22-23

Ephesians 6:10, NCV "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his great power."

What does the Bible has to say about the spiritual warfare? What are we fighting about and how are we going to do that? Ephesians 6:11-12 gave us the answer.

"Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil's evil tricks. Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world's darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world."

Reading one story from the book called, "Jesus Freaks and The Voice of the Martyrs" from Albury Publishing, Tulsa, Oklahoma, touched my heart to where I would like to share this with you.

Her name is Liuba Ganevskaya and during 1970's she was arrested for her faith by the Russian Communists, was kept in a solitary cell, starved and beaten. They wanted her to give up her faith in Christ and give the names of other believers so the guard would beat her daily. Liuba has had enough and she was going to tell the guard to his face that he is a criminal.

But the Holy Spirit showed her something else. The Holy Spirit had Liuba noticed the guard was tired of beating her because if he failed to get any information from her, Stalin, the chief Communist dictator, would killed him along with 10,000 officers of his own secret police, which included three successive heads of the police. Just like the Christians they had persecuted!

Holy Spirit spoke to her, "You and your torturers pass through the same vale of tears." Luiba looked up at the guard who had already lifted his whip to beat her. She smiled. Stunned, he asked, "Why do you smile?"

The way Liuba explained to the guard caused him to put down his whip. She continued, "What burden so weighs on you that it drives you to the madness of beating a person who has done you no harm?" He had no answer. The torturer left that day a changed man.

The Holy Spirit has shown Luiba how to fight against the powers of this world's darkness. Her gentle spirit has won the guard's heart to Jesus. She did not fight him. Let us listen to the Holy Spirit:

"Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil's evil tricks. Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world's darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world."

May the Lord bless you today!

Don't Worry 12/20-21

Philippians 4:6, NLT "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done."

Inspiration: This verse came from the booklet, God's promises for every day. What to do when you are in doubt about yourself. I was reading the book, Heaven's Heroes on the part about Adoniram Judson (1788-1850). Judson dedicated his life to the Lord and to world missions. In 1812, Judson and his new wife, Nancy, boarded ship as the first American missionaries.

They first came ashore in India, but circumstances lead them toward Burma. Landing in Rangoon, they met and teamed with William Carey's son Felix to reach the Burmese with the gospel. Often they study 12 hours a day to learn Burmese's language.

Then the war broke out between Burma and England, the Burmese government  suspected all foreigners as spies and sentenced them all to a Burmese death prison. Staying in a prison over a year with no exercise and little food, they were forced to march out to different place. Several died on the way when it became too much for them to travel. Judson survived the journey. Sorrows came upon Judson when he lost his wife and two children. His second wife, died.

Judson went into a time of deep discouragement, then the new power of the Holy Spirit surged through Judson and  he was refreshed to continue his preaching. In 1840, 28 years after landing in Burma, Judson completed his translation of the Burmese Bible and sent it to the press.

Judson went to America to speak. Judson met and married Emily who returned with him to Burma. Emily was a gifted writer and she helped him complete a Burmese dictionary in 1849. Despite the illness and death of family members, Judson held to his faith in God. He never lost sight of his vision to evangelize Burma.

As he stood against great odds, he was able to say, "The prospects are as bright as the promises of God." He left a valuable contribution to Burma: a Bible and a dictionary.  This story of Judson as a missionary, faced the odds and still held on to his faith in God, this really touched my heart.

This was where God's promises quoted, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your heart and minds as you live in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6-7 NLT.

SONG: WONDERFUL PEACE
Peace! peace! wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above,
Sweep over my spirit forever I pray,
In fathomless billows of love.

Calm and Quiet 12/17-19

Psalm 131:2 "I have calmed and quieted my soul."

In search of silence is to find a place that is perfectly quiet. A soul need a place to quiet our inner being, a place where God has our full attention. Looking at the translations, it was entirely new to me. I like what it says. It gives a beautiful illustration between you and God.

NLT: "But I have stilled and quieted myself, just as a small child is quiet with its mother. Yes, like a small child is my soul within me." Psalm 131:2

NCV: "But  I am calm and quiet, like a baby with its mother. I am at peace, like a baby with its mother." Ps. 131:2

Inspiration: The Holy Spirit brought a line of song, "There is a place of quiet rest." And I search for that song that fits the line, Near to the Heart of God. Devotion fits well that God held us like a baby close to His heart and He wants us to be calm in His arms of love. He wants us to be at peace. So let us trust our loving heavenly Father!

SONG: NEAR TO THE HEART OF GOD
1. There is a place of quiet rest, Near to the heart of God.
A place where we cannot molest, Near to the heart of God.
Chorus:
O Jesus, blest Redeemer, Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee, Near to the heart of God.

2. There is a place of comfort sweet, Near to the heart of God.
A place where we our Savior meet, Near to the heart of God.
Chorus: See above.

3. There is a place of full release, Near to the heart of God.
A place where all is joy and peace, Near to the heart of God.
Chorus: See above.

Encouragement 12/16

Romans 15:4 NLT, “Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. They give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises.”

Paul was writing to Roman Christians Church and he explained what it would take to have a strong church. One of them was to study the Scripture. Here is one example of Acts 17:11-12, NLT “And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to check up on Paul and Silas, to see if they were really teaching the truth. As a result, many Jews believed, as did some of the prominent Greek women and many men.”

Inspiration: I read a short story about Samuel Zwemer from Heaven’s Heroes by David Shibley. Samuel was a missionary to Islam and he did not have an easy lives. But God granted him powers equal to his tasks. I like this kind of prayer: “Do not pray for easy lives, pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers; pray for powers equal to your tasks” by Phillips Brooks.

What impressed me? Until I read a short story of Samuel, it made me realized that maybe I was looking for an easy way out from studying “too hard?” Oh, thank you Lord for Heb. 4:12 that your Word discern my thought and my heart and not to look for an easy lives.

Prayer: “Now may the God Who gives us the power of patient endurance (steadfastness) and Who supplies in such mutual harmony and such full sympathy with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may [unanimously] with united hearts and one voice, praise and glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).” Romans 15:5-6, The Amplified Bible. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

Lamp Unto My Feet 12/15

Psalm 119:105 KJV
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

God's word has the spiritual principles (a basic truth or rule of conduct) that will help us avoid many sorrows, pitfalls, and tragedies brought on by wrong decisions and choices. The Holy Spirit encourages us to treasure its wisdom and steadfastly hold on to the Word of God in all of our life's situations.

Like the Psalm 119:112 says, "I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes always, even unto the end."

Prayer: Thank you, Lord for being a lamp unto my feet. Thank you, Lord for being a light unto my path. Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths (Ps. 25:4). Lead me in thy truth, and teach me for you are my God, the creator of heaven and earth. Lord, I bless you today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen!

Reconcile Your Brother 12/13-14

Matthew 5:24 "Be reconciled to your brother."

Just how important is it to be reconciled to your brother? It is the only time when you prayed and remembered that you have hurt someone. Jesus encourages us that to be reconciled is important to Him.

This story happened to be in Maryland when Monika Couch and I was doing a ministry of intercession to Deaf Women Retreat. I can't remember what year. She was talking about the curse from generations that passed on. As I heard this, during that time I was having a problem with my headache on top of my head when the weather gets cold. I would have had to wear a covering over my head when need to. Also I felt a tension on my right neck and it felt like a "claw." Monika suggested a prayer of deliverance with the deaf ladies that Sunday morning.

When that morning came, Monika called me to be prayed for. It was revealed that since I had some of the Indian blood from my mother's great grandma who was pure Indian, and there was a generation curse from the Indian witch doctor. She asked me if I would forgive him for that curse. I spoke the word and said, "Yes, I forgave him." I felt the "claw" that represents the witch doctor using a rattler with eagle's claw, disappeared from my right neck. The second prayer was for my top headache and it disappeared as well. I was amazed and Monika asked me how it does feel.

I respond that I felt so good and then there was a song along with it and everyone was singing. I felt the spirit of dove came upon my right shoulder and another dove to my left shoulder. Suddenly I felt so "tender in the spirit" and tears just flows upon my cheek. It was really a new experience for me.

Here's what amazing: Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said, "You need to be nice to Mary. Don't give her hard time. Be reconcile to her and forgive her." So I spoke to Mary and asked her to forgive me. She said that she was amazed because she prayed that I would be nice to her during the time when two doves were upon both of my shoulders. It was a beautiful reconciliation. It touched all the deaf ladies that they were able to surrendered completely to the Holy Spirit that Sunday morning. [Saturday night was struggled for some of them until that Sunday morning, it was a complete deliverance for all of us. God became so much more real than we had ever seen. So God knew a perfect timing when we all need to be set free in the Spirit.]

Jesus said that if you remember you have hurt someone, go and reconcile to someone. It is that important to God and Jesus Himself (Matt. 5:21-26).

So let God bless you and set you free from being bondage to unforgiving spirit. Ask Holy Spirit to help you to be reconciled to your sisters or brothers in Christ.

My People, A Remnant 12/10-12

Jeremiah 31:1 NIRV, "At that time I will be the God of all of the tribes of Israel," announces the Lord. "And they will be my people."

Let us read on to Jeremiah 31:2-3 with New International Reader's Version:
2) The Lord says, "Some of my people will live through everything their enemies do to them. They will find help in the desert. I will come to give peace and rest to Israel." 3) The Lord appeared to us in the past. He said, "I have loved you with a love that lasts forever. I have kept on loving you with faithful love.

The verse 2 has a history about these people that are remnant found in Jeremiah 31:7 "... O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel." You see the word, "remnant" often in the Bible especially Paul in Roman 9:27, "... a remnant shall be saved." Also in Roman 11:5, "... a remnant according to the election of grace." Remnant means a surviving usually small part (remnants of a great civilization) and something that remains or is left over.

These people are the remnant from all the families of Israel who would return from the captivity. Many were carried away by the Assyrians in 722 b.c., and others by the Babylonians in 605, 597, and 586 b.c. God would bring them back because of His everlasting love for His people.

In this chapter was about God promised the restoration of Israel and God's people would again dwell together under His blessing. God remembered His covenant with Abraham and with Israel. Israel would have renewed joy, peace, prosperity, and fellowship in the Lord.

Jeremiah reveals that God would make a new and better covenant with His people that would include spiritual power to obey His commandments. In KJV, Jeremiah 31:3b has been my favorite verse: "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee."

Inspiration: I asked God to give me a verse for Manna this morning. I opened Jeremiah 31:1-3 and I was inspired that God wants to tell you that He loves you with a love that will last forever. He wants to continue to show you His loving kindness. I learned about the history of Israel that many were killed and there were a small group that still loves God. God encouraged them that His love is forever. His kindness is forever.

So let us trust God today!

SONG: I HAVE LOVED THEE
I loved thee with an everlasting love.
I loved thee with an everlasting love.
My love is so big, and My love is so deep.
And I loved thee with an everlasting love.

Reconciled to God 12/8-9

Roman 5:1 KJV, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

In the Old Testament, Leviticus 16 describes the Day of Atonement, the most important holy day of the Jewish year. On this important Jewish day, God gave every details how the process of atonement should be done. Why? If there was no atonement being done, the Israel would be forced to put up with God’s wrath for not following His laws. There was no peace for Israel facing God’s wrath upon their disobedience.

God had a great desired to save Israel from His wrath. God wanted to forgive their sins, and reconcile them to Himself. So God provided a way of salvation by accepting in the place the death of an innocent life, the animal that was to be sacrificed. This animal bore their guilt and penalty and covered over their sins by its shed blood.

When I read the whole chapter of Leviticus 16, I thought, “Wow, so much details for the priests to follow the ritual.” As a reminder, these ritual all pointed out toward Jesus Christ. The Day of Atonement is illustrated with symbols that points to the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In the New Testament, the author of Hebrews emphasizes the new covenant fulfillment on the typology of the Day of Atonement ritual. Since animal sacrifices were a type of Christ’s perfect sacrifice and found their fulfillment in Christ’s sacrifice of Himself, there is no more need for animal sacrifices after His death on Calvary (Heb. 9:12-18). Christ’s sacrificed once for all.

“Since we have been made right with God by our faith, we have peace with God. This happened through our Lord Jesus Christ, who has brought us into that blessing of God’s grace that we now enjoy. And we are happy because of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory” (Romans 5:1-2, NCV).

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son into the world … [silent worship] … I am feeling your Presence … I am feeling your peace …

SONG: IN YOUR PRESENCE
In Your presence, in Your presence, there is peace;
In Your presence, in Your presence, there is joy,
I will linger, I will stay in Your presence day by day
That Your likeness may be seen in me.

Reconcile 12/5-7

2 Corinthians 5:19, NCV "God was in Christ, making peace between the world and Himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And He gave us this message of peace."

The message was about "reconcile" and NCV translate the meaning of the word reconcile to making peace or message of peace. I believe it is important to know about the reconcile and I will used Amplified for reading. 2 Cor. 5:17 has been my favorite verse. Holy Spirit often quote this to me whenever we were tempted to talk about the "old past." He reminded us that today is a new day, not yesterday. God's mercy is new every morning.

Reading from Amplified Bible 2 Corinthians 5:17-21:
17) Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
18) But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].
19) It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).
20) So we are Christ's ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ's personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.
21) For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

Inspiration:  The word reconcile has been on my heart for a very long time. I have written in my journals, but I was not able to write it clearly for Manna until I saw this in Amplified reading.

There is one illustration or picture of what this reconciled really mean. At the cross, Jesus held out His right Hand to the Father and Jesus held out His left Hand to the world, and that is reconciled by restoring the relationship between the world and the Father. Christ has reconciled the Father to the world so now it is up to the world to accept Christ as their Savior who has already forgave sins that was done at the cross.

This is deep, but I just got to share this with you. So now our job is a ministry of reconciliation. It means that our job is to pray that we would bring the people to understand that God has already reconciled them to Him if they just realized this and accept Christ as their personal Savior.

At Christmas time, when you see many pictures of Mary holding the baby Jesus in her arms, that is a message that God has already provided the reconciliation to the world because the baby Jesus was in the world.

What does this mean to me? My heart was overflowing with this knowledge of His Word of wisdom. I trust the Holy Spirit to open our mind to understand His Word of reconciliation. It took me a long time to to grasp this and it is worth growing into this knowledge of Christ.

May the Lord bless you and believe that God gave us the message of peace!

Light So Shine 12/4

Matthew 5:16, KJV
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Jesus explained, "You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don't hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house, in the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven" (Matt. 5:13-16, NCV).

Peter explained, "Dear friends, you are like foreigners and strangers in this world. I beg you to avoid the evil things your bodies want to do that fight against your soul. People who do not believe are living all around you and might say that you are wrong. Live such good lives that they will see the good things you do and will give glory to God on the day when Christ comes again" (1 Peter 2:11-12, NCV).

Inspiration: What impressed me is that you can't hide your life under a bowl. Have you ever met some Deaf Christians who tried to hide their lives? Maybe some Deaf says, "That's like show off?" Then Peter explained more clearly that it is your normal, daily lives that you have allow Christ inside of you to shine every day. You can't hide Christ inside of you. People around you will see that you are different. You are so nice. You are willing to do good things even when other people may not be so nice to you. Let them see that you are willing to do good things and they will be impressed. That is when your Father in heaven will be so proud of you. It glorified Him!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your words of wisdom to remind me that you are glorified when I tried to do good things at my work and among my friends and at home. Thank you Jesus for your words. Thank you Holy Spirit to keep me shining for Him. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen!

Song: Keep Me Shining for Thee
Lord, keep me shining for Thee,
Oh, keep me shining for Thee.
In a world wrap in night,
Keep me pure, keep me bright,
Lord, keep me shining for Thee,
Oh, keep me shining for Thee
    Until I behold Thy face.
(Out of memory, not sure where to find this.
I may need to correct this later.)

Light of Life 12/3

John 8:12, NIV
"Whoever follow Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

KJV: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he (whoever) that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

The key word here is 'followeth.' Three letters: eth means to 'keep on' following. From the technology dictionary, I choose one meaning: to work in or at something as a business or way of life. Jesus promised that you will not walk in darkness, but shall have the light which is the way of life

Jesus does not intend to leave us in darkness, the gloomy side by looking on the dark side which is not bright or cheerful. Jesus does not intend for us to be ignorance when we see or hear about "chaos world" [complete confusion]. Jesus has taught us through His Word to be prepared and to keep on living in the light of life which is Jesus Christ, Himself.

Prayer: Thank You, Heavenly Father for giving us the Word of encouragement to keep on following Jesus as the light of the world. Thank You for showing us Your Word why many things will happen before Jesus comes again. Remind us to turn our eyes upon Jesus as the light of the world. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen!

SONG: TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face;
And the things of earth will
grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Ordain Peace 12/2

Isaiah 26:12, KJV
"Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us."

AMP: "Lord, You will ordain peace (God's favor and blessings, both temporal and spiritual) for us, for You have also wrought in us and for us all our works."
NKJV: "Lord, You will establish peace for us, for You have also done all our works in us."

We see wars over and over again and many are restless and are not turning to God. So where is the promised peace? The Scripture tells us that true peace comes only from the Lord. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" John 14:27.

Jesus taught the principles (rules) of peace, calling for people to love their neighbors as they love themselves. Paul encourages us in Romans 12:18, "As much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men."

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the verse that You have taught us that only You ordain peace. We ask You to teach us to depend on You to bring peace inside of us so we could be at peace with our neighbors. Help us to experience peace with You so we could share Your peace with others. Let our lives reflect the Prince of Peace which is Jesus Christ. It is through Christ's peace that we can bring others to Jesus. We thank You for that in Jesus' name. Amen!

Happy December First and Delight Thyself 12/1

Psalm 37:4, KJV "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

I prayed and said, "Lord, I had question about this verse whether or not to put it into this Manna." I felt led to read the part of articles from the book called, "Partners in Prayer" by John Maxwell. To make story short, Bill Klassen was called by God to become prayer partners to John Maxwell. John already had a great ministry, yet God called one layperson to pray for him.

"John," Bill said. "I believe God has called me--a layman--to disciple, encourage, and pray for pastors. The reason I came here today was so that I could pray for you." Note this: John never had a layman come just to pray for him. As they prayed together, John wrote, "Bill fulfilled a need for personal prayer that I didn't know I had, and he sparked a deep desire for an additional prayer covering over me, the church, my family, and my ministry."

That part impressed me. Bill, his prayer partners had sparked a deep desire in the pastor, John Maxwell that Bill was able to pray for him. They had delight themselves in the Lord for an hour and then, John was able to share his deep desire for an additional prayer covering for John, the church, his family and his ministry.

As a result when John shared his heart desires to Bill, God had blessed the church from 1,000 to 3.500 people, and the rest is a history. In case you might want to know the ISBN 0-7852-7439-1 to order the book. It is well worth reading because his letter mentioned the importance of teaching the partners in prayer. He quoted:

"The prayer needs of pastors are so great. This year, one-third of all local church pastors will consider resigning under the weight of their responsibilities. In America, one denomination alone sees an average of four pastors resign every single day because of discouragement, personal and professional failure, and loss of purpose. During the more than 25 years I spent in pulpit ministry, the best decision I made was to develop a prayer partner ministry."

I like this quote: "When we work, we work; but when we pray, God works." [Foreword from Max Lucado] Dorothy: What can we Deaf people do about this? You could learn to become prayer partner for someone who needs YOU. Just like Bill who became prayer partner for a pastor. It is something to think about.

My Words Abide 11/30

John 15:7, KJV
"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

Reading from John 15:7-11, AMP:
7) If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. 8) When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.

Inspiration: Produce much fruit? To have a fruit, it must live in the ground. To have a fruit, it must have root. To have a fruit, one must water it. To have a fruit, it must grow. To have a fruit, it must become ripe. To have a fruit, it must become savory, a pleasing to the taste. The Father is honored and glorified when we become fruitful to Him.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus for your Words remind me to abide in you and that we can ask you in time of our needs. We keep your Words into our hearts so that we may become fruitful and pleasing to our Heavenly Father. We love you, Jesus. We love you, Father. We love you, Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Do All Things 11/29

Philippians 4:13, KJV
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Theme: Paul Thanks the Christians: Reading from Phil. 4:10-20, NCV.
10) I am very happy in the Lord that you have shown your care for me again. You continued to care about me, but there was no way for you to show it.
11) I am not telling you this because I need anything. I have learned to be satisfied with things I have and have everything that happens.
12) I know how to live when I am poor, and I know how to live when I have plenty. I have learned the secret of being happy at anytime in everything that happens, when I have enough to eat and when I go hungry, when I have more than I need and when I do not have enough.
13) I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.
14) But it was good that you helped me when I needed it.
15) You Philippians remember when I first preached the Good News there. When I left Macedonia, you were the only church that help me.
16) Several times you sent me things I needed when I was in Thessalonica.
17) Really, it is not that I want to receive gifts from you, but I want you to have that good that comes from giving.
18) And now I have everything, and more. I have all I need, because Epaphroditus brought your gift to me. It is like a sweet-smelling sacrifice offered to God, who accepts that sacrifice and is pleased with it.
19) My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need. 20) Glory to our God and Father forever and ever! Amen.

Inspiration: What impressed me was that when the Holy Spirit guided me to give someone the money in time of need, my giving was "like a sweet-smelling sacrifice offered to God, who accepts that sacrifice and is pleased with it." No wonder I felt good when I gave something.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord for having me to read this simply from the card verse and to understand why Paul had written Philippians 4:13. Awesome, Lord! Thank You again. May those who read this be blessed. In Jesus' name. Amen!

Psalm 86:7
"In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me."

Card Prayer:  Help me, Lord, to act with your love in the seemingly impossible situations of life. My prayer to God: For with God all things are possible. Thank You for reminding me of Jesus' Word, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God" (Luke 18:27). In Jesus' name, I thank You! Amen!

SONG: GOT ANY RIVERS?
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can't tunnel through?

And He will do what no other power can do.

A Peculiar People 11/23

Others gave comments through emails, but I thought this was too good to pass it up. The reason is because it is original writing and it is a "Fresh Manna."

THE QUESTION WAS: WHY DID GOD SET UP 10 COMMANDMENTS?
In the Old Testament, God wants His people to be a peculiar, one's own, special people, not like the people of other nations. What God has seen the people of other nations had done, He made Ten commandments of eight "DO NOT" be like them and two commandments to "KEEP & HONOR."

I found five verses that talked about "a peculiar people".  Exodus 19:5 "... ye shall be a PECULIAR treasure unto Me above all the people ..." Deut. 14:2 "... a PECULIAR people unto Himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth." Deut. 26:18-19 "... His PECULIAR people, as He hath promised thee, and thou should keep all His commandments; And to make thee high above all nations ..."

[The fact was that the people of Israel broke the laws and had disobeyed God. What the law could not do for them,] Titus 2:14 "Jesus Christ (who) gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself A PECULIAR people ... "  1 Peter 2:9 "... a royal priesthood, an holy NATION, A PECULIAR PEOPLE ..."

So the answer is: Jesus Christ is the One who redeem us from the law that condemned us, so now Ten Commandment is a reminder how to live for Him, yes! Christ is our Promise Covenant! That's why we have "Passover" Communion, a constant Covenant with Him! Amen!!!

Why 10 Commandments? 11/23-24

Why did God set up 10 commandments? Exodus 20:1; Deuteronomy 5:1

It goes back to the time of Noah’s days, multitude of people were carefree, lived so long as to 900 years. They ate fruits, grains, and ate no meats. They got so bored so they started to have idols to worship to, something they could see. Also for Israelites who had lived in Egypt during 400 years, they saw so many idols and were influenced by it.

#2 There were people who would not be satisfied with just one God so they tend to make any graven image made from wood, metal, and gold. #3. At times people swear using God name in vain. Cursing and swearing were common. #4 People works all the times, any days of the weeks, seven days a week until they became tired, and weary, even families or slaves were forced to work.

#5 There were people who do not show any respect to their aging parents. When they got old, they just simply got rid of them. #6 There were a lot of murders, killings for the sport of it. #7 & 8 Adultery and stealing become common for many generations.  #9 The people in the communities developed a habit of lying against their neighbor simply because they didn’t like them so they would witness against them especially in the court.

#10 In the days of Noah and also in Egypt where the Israelites were living 400 years, common problem with the neighbors’ attitude were: “They have something better than I have so I want that.” They covet so much from their neighbor’s house that was better, wife that was prettier, servants that was better or even covet better animals.

THAT WAS THE REASON GOD SET UP THOSE LAWS:
1. THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME.
2. THOU SHALT NOT MAKE THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE.
3. THOU SHALT NOT TO TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN.
4. REMEMBER TO KEEP THE SABBATH DAY HOLY.
5. HONOR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER.
6. THOU SHALT NOT KILL.
7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.
8. THOU SHALT NOT STEAL.
9. THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR.
10. THOU SHALT NOT COVET.

Did you know that the law already condemned us because we broke one or some of them? We were supposed to be punished, but God send His own Son to be sacrificed upon the cross so we could accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and be home with God in heaven. I am thankful that Jesus stepped out and said to the laws, “I will take their place.  Do not condemned them.”  [Ref. Romans 8:1-4]

The Lord has put this upon my heart for several days and there must be reason to write this and share them with you. May the Lord bless you.

The Lord is Gracious 11/21

Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 145:8 KJV, “The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.”

The Lord is gracious is often repeated which expresses God’s delight in showing mercy.  When He sees misery, it moves His heart to compassion. He is slow to become angry at our offenses and quickly show mercy when forgiveness is requested.

1 Peter 2:3 KJV, “If so be if ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” Peter explained to those who were babes in Christ and growing in Him, to remember not to take advantages of God’s kindness. It means that when God is gracious, it should encourage us to keep growing in Christ through much prayer and studying His Word.

Let’s read different verses and get to know more about God’s awesome love. It might cause us to want to love Him even more. Psalms 145:8, 9, 13b, 17, 18 will tell us what the Lord is.

The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to get angry, full of unfailing love. V.9 The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. V. 13b The Lord is faithful in all He says; He is gracious in all He does. V. 17 The Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness. V. 18 The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him sincerely” (NLT).

Finally, it would causes us to say, “I will praise the Lord, and everyone on earth will bless His holy name forever and forever” Psalm 145:21.

SONG: SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever
And I shall feast at the table spread for me.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life.

Each Generation Tell 11/20

Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 145:4 KJV, “One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.” NLT, “Let each generation tell its children of Your mighty acts.”

In our daily worship we are made to remember the continuity of the praise of God that has gone on for three thousand years, with parents telling their children of God’s mighty acts. This is how we got the Bible because the generation pass along to the next generation.

Psalm 145:5 KJV, “I will speak of the glorious honour of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works.” NLT, “I will mediate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.”

So now this individual worshipper, one of the congregation as a body, pauses to mediate in his turn on thy wondrous works, really “thy wondrous words”; for an act of God is first a word He has spoken into space and time. In Genesis 1:3 “And God said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was light.” Then we mediate on God’s wondrous works from His spoken words.

Psalm 145:6-7 NLT, “Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim Your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy of Your righteousness.”

Prayer: Every day I will bless You, and I will praise You forever. I thank You for Your blessings and gifts to us. You are our Maker! You are our Redeemer! You are our Provider! We love You! We worship You! We adore You! You are a wonderful God! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen and Amen!

He’s the potter, I’m the clay;
For my Lord and me there’ll never

Beyond Discovery 11/19

Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 145:3 KJV, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.”

Psalm 145:1-3 NTL, “I will praise you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. I will bless you every day, and I will praise you forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! His greatness is beyond discovery!” God is able to lift us because His greatness is beyond discovery.

Beyond discovery means to go to the farther side of and out of reach and to make known as if something is hidden from us. When we search for something, we go through or look very carefully in an effort to find something or to discover something. When we come to the word unsearchable about God Himself, what better words to say, “His greatness is beyond discovery!”

My! What else could we say about Him? Could we ever understand His greatness? NCV tell us that “The Lord is great and worthy of our praise; no one can understand how great He is.” I like to add the Amplified Bible, “Great is the Lord and highly to be praise; and His greatness is [so vast and deep as to be] unsearchable.”
So let us trust God today!

SONG: HOW BIG IS GOD
How big is God: how big and wide His vast domain.
To try to tell these lips can only start.
He’s big enough to rule His mighty universe
Yet small enough to live within my heart.

The Lord Upholds You 11/18

Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 145:14 KJV, “The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth all those that be bowed down.” NLT, “The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.”

Sometimes our burdens seem more than we can bear and we wonder how we can go on. David stands at this bleak intersection of life’s road and meditates on the Lord, the great burden bearer.

I like the words, “The Lord upholds you.” The word, upholds means to give support to and to lift up. God is always ready to lift you up and bear your burden. The best way to do this is to sing the songs about lifting. As you sing, you will feel something lifting inside of you.

SONG: HE LIFTED ME
From the sinking sand He lifted me,
With tender hand He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

Generously Provide 11/17

2 Corinthians 9:8a, NLT “And God will generously provide all you need.”

I compare KJV with NLT and I was surprised to see a clear meaning. So I checked the NCV for another translation and it says, “And God can give you more blessings than you need.” KJV says, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you …” Reading this, I realize that “grace abound toward you” means generously provide and more blessings than you need.

Actually, there’s more to this by reading as whole from 2 Cor. 9:6-8, but for now I just focus on one line on 2 Cor. 9:8a, the verse that impress me the most was about God Himself will generously provide all you need. When I got up in the morning, I notice that I have to keep up with my personal needs. Toilet papers must be there.

To brush my teeth, a toothpaste must be there. Alcohol must be there with cotton pads to wipe off the soil on my face skin. Three eye medicines, two of them must be there for morning drops.  Brushes and hair dryer, must be there. Soap or liquid soaps must be in the shower. Hair shampoo must be there to wash my hair. Wash cloths must be there to wash my face and body. Towels must be there to dry myself. More little things must be there.

Clothes must be there for me to get dressed. Now I realized what this verse meant “And God will generously provide all you need.” Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see every little things, God had already provided for me day by day.  I just need to believe that God will continually and generously provide all that I need. That goes for you, dear friends. God will provide all that you need. Trust Him today!

SONG: JESUS IS ALL I NEED
All that I need He will always be;
All that I need till His face I see;
All that I need thro’ eternity,
Jesus is all I need.

Tell Me the Story Often 11/16

Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

Acts 2:21b “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Do you ever become weary and feeling kind of emptiness for no reason at all? It is as if we lost something, but what? I was reading a short story about Catherine Hankey who became very ill and had to stay in bed. While in thoughts, she wrote a poem that later became a hymn, “Tell Me the Old, Old Story”:

Tell me the story slowly, That I may take it in—
That wonderful redemption, God’s remedy for sin.
Tell me the story often, For I forget so soon;
The early dew of morning has passed away at noon.
Tell me the old, old story, Tell me the old, old story;
Tell me the old, old story Of Jesus and His love.

Ah, God’s remedy for sin and I quote this: “I called upon the name of the Lord and he has saved me from that empty feelings.” God reminds me that you are feeling that lost souls and their empty feelings. He put the discerning spirit in you so you could pray for those who are lost and who need to hear the old story of Jesus’ salvation. Pray that they shall call on the name of the Lord and they shall be saved.

We never get tire of hearing the story because of His great love, God sent His one and only Son to this earth (John 3:16). He lived a perfect life, took our sin upon Himself when He was crucified, and 3 days later rose again. When we receive Him as our Savior, we are given eternal life and become His children (John 1:12). Tell someone the old, old story of Jesus and His love. We all need to hear it again. God bless you real good! Amen!

How Wonderful Thou Art! 11/13-15

Psalm 139:6 AMP, “Your [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high above me ...” Ps. 119:129 KJV, “Thy testimonies are wonderful …” Ps. 111:4 “He hath made His wonderful works to be remembered …”

When we want to say something wonderful to God, don’t we often felt limit to know only one word, ‘wonderful’? But if there were more words from ‘wonderful,’ we might want to express other words to Him. So I am using the Scholastic Children’s Dictionary to share in the Manna. I used * as my own illustrations.

The word, WONDERFUL mean: 1. Causing wonder; remarkable, amazing or impressive. [The porpoise is a wonderful and intelligent creature.] 2. Very good; excellent. [In my opinion, she would be a wonderful governor.] Synonyms mean a word that means the same or nearly the same as another word. [The word rapid is a synonym for quick.]

Synonyms: WONDERFUL originally described something that caused someone to be filled with awe or wonder. Now it also refers to anything that is unusually good. *Isn’t the love of Jesus something wonderful? INTERESTING describes something that captures someone’s attention: *God, the universe and galaxy that You made are interesting and awesome!

FASCINATING describes something so interesting that you want to know more about it: *The earth that we live in, hang in the space, the universe, how did You do that? That is so fascinating, Lord! DELIGHTFUL means highly pleasing: *In the multitude of my [anxious] thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul! (Ps. 94:19AMP).

SPECTACULAR means dramatic (attracting attention) and sensational (unexpectedly excellent or great): *Among God’s creatures, the butterfly is one of the most spectacular beautiful! ASTONISHING describes something that causes great wonder or surprise: *God, it is astonishing that 80 percent of all life on Earth is found in the seas.

As we grow to understand the wonder of creation, it will always point us to the Creator Himself and call us to worship our wonderful God. “Let the heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them” (Ps. 69:34). If creation itself gives praise to the Creator, we can and should certainly join the chorus. What a mighty God we serve!

SONG: ASL: HOW WONDERFUL YOU ARE!
O Lord my God, when I think awesome of You!
Thoughts of all the worlds Your hands bloom!
I see many stars, I see lightning bolt!
All over universe, You showed me Your power!
Chorus:
Your creation made my soul sings to God, my Savior!
Awesome and wonderful You are,
Awesome and wonderful You are!
Your creation made my soul sings to God, my Savior!
Awesome and wonderful You are,
Awesome and wonderful You are!
[Translation from “How Great Thou Art” by Stuart Westley Keene Hine]

The 8th Woes Part 2 (11/10-12)

Matthew 23:14 KJV, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.”  NCV, “How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees. You are hypocrites. You take away widows’ houses, and you say long prayers so that the people will notice you. So you will have a worse punishment.”

I want to mention the 8th woe which was not part of the seven woes. Some manuscripts left out this verse 14 while some Greek copies add verse 14. How do they take away widows’ houses? The widows did not have a law to protect them after the death of their husbands. This made Jesus very angry of what they had done to the widows. Jesus mentioned the worse punishment will come to them who practice this.

When Jesus spoke about the ‘woe,’ all I could think of was sign language meaning, “mercy ‘O’. It means there is no mercy for them. For me as a deaf person, I don’t think I have ever seen anyone uses the word, woe except it comes from the Bible. From the Technology Bible, there were about 107 ‘woes.’ When Jesus used the word, ‘woe’ to the Pharisees, and other religious leaders, what does it really mean?

Until I read the New Century Version translated the woe to “How terrible for you!” The word, woe means great grief, trouble or distress and sometimes even a curse. I translate this ‘woe’ as to mean from Jesus to the religious leaders: ‘There’s no mercy from God for you because God will punish you for doing many harmful things to the innocent people. God was not pleased with all the selfish things you have done only for yourselves. Therefore you will not enter heaven at all.”

From part one, the third woes (3) V. 16-22, “Blindly leading God’s people to follow man-made traditions instead of God’s Word.” Here’s a few examples: you are not a Christian until you join their church and earned grace by using their penace; their law declares the right to kill the Christians if you do not join their organization; you are require to reach so many number of labors in order to get into heaven; there is no such three persons of God only Jesus, Himself; Jesus was never really born of the flesh, He came in the Spirit on earth; the man on the cross was not Jesus, that was someone else and etc.

Paul who wrote 14 Epistles was the one who had believed the right to kill the Christians until Jesus appeared to Paul to stop this killing. It was Jesus that Paul became a changed man.

In the past, I had often wondered about the today’s organizations that does not follow God’s Word and what Jesus would do about them until I read Matthew 23 the whole chapter several times with different translations. Then I understood the “woes” upon any organizations or any persons who would face greater judgment for not following God’s Word just like it was in Jesus’ time. So when Jesus said, “I never knew you. Depart from me ye that work iniquity” from Matthew 7:22-33. Then I understood what Jesus meant. Work iniquity means not following God’s words.

How important it is to know the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be dedicated to His Word and to remember that “Christ loves righteousness and hates wickedness.” End of “Woes.”
