Watch and Pray

Matthew 26:41 NCV: Stay awake and pray for strength against temptation. The spirit wants to do what is right, but the body is weak. KJV: Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Luke 21:36 NCV: So be ready all the time. Pray that you will be strong enough to escape all these things that will happen and that you will be able to stand before the Son of Man. KJV: Watch ye therefore and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Dorothy: There are eight things about our body that is weak. These temptations show why we need Holy Spirit to make intercession for us (plead or beg God for us).
1) We have problem with LONG CONCENTRATION because we are not able to pay attention to God’s Word long enough. Our flesh doesn’t want to study the Word of God too long.
2) We have problem with DISTRACTION because many thing bothers us and it is hard to do important things.
3) We have problem with our WANDERING THOUGHTS because it is hard to think one thing. Many things come to our thought and we forget God’s Word. It is hard to pray because Satan throws all kinds of “arrows” into our thoughts.
4) We have problem with OUR EMOTIONAL UP AND DOWN because we can’t control them. We become moody and upset easily when things don’t go right for us.
5) We have problem WITH LOVING THINGS OF THE WORLD more than loving God through prayer and study His Word.
6) We have problem about KNOWING THE FUTURE because we don’t know what will happen to us? Many people got lay off from jobs. Economy is bad. Weathers are changing that surprises us sometimes.
7) We don’t always KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR US because we do so many activities that keep us busy and no time for God’s will for our lives.
8) We have problem not understanding why troubles or problems are important to our spiritual GROWTH AT ANYTIME AND ANYWHERE because we don’t understand how important it is to turn to God all the times.

This is why Paul said, “Pray always” because our weaknesses are our “dangerous zone.” We need Holy Spirit to “tap” our shoulders and say, “Hey, watch out.” Let Holy Spirit become your friend. He helps our weakness [Romans 8:26]. God loves you and He want to take you home in heaven.
