The Spirit of Supplication

Ephesians 6:18
KJV: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” NCV: Pray in the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers, asking for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready and never give up. Always pray for all God’s people.

Supplication means a humble and earnest request or prayer. Example: Supplications to God arose from all the churches of the besieged town. [Besieged town means surrounded by enemies]. Supplication is about prayers that focus upon special needs—deep and intense needs. When we see special needs in the lives of people—all people—we are to supplicate for them. That is, we are to carry the need before God with a great sense of urgency and plead and beg for the person or persons. The idea is that of intense and deep brokenness before God in behalf (interest) of others—that God would help and save the person. God put inside of us the Holy Spirit to make supplication and whom we could call our heavenly Father, Abba when we would sense the forces of demons all around us. Just cry out to Him and He will delivers us from evil surrounding us.

In Zechariah 12:10 God said to Israel, “I will pour out the Spirit of Supplication.” God spoke to Zechariah, the prophet about the future of Jerusalem and Israel. From Zechariah 12:3-10 tells about many nations will gather against Jerusalem and Israel. God will pour out His Spirit of grace and Supplications upon the people of Israel so they would be able to cry out to the Messiah to come for help against the enemies, the nations that will try to besiege the Jerusalem and Israel. When Messiah will come, the Israel will look upon Jesus whom they have pierced and realize what they have done and mourn for their Messiah. It is just like the story of Joseph, “You Israel meant it for evil by crucifying Me, but God meant it for good for salvation for all the people of the earth.” There is hope for the future Jerusalem, for Israel and also for all the Christians of the world. Look up for our Redemption is near. The song collection will help us to remember that Jesus is all we need.

He’s all I need, He’s all I need, Jesus is all I need.
He’s all I need, He’s all I need, Jesus is all I need.
