Another Comforter

John 14:16-17a Jesus said:
KJV: “… I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth…” NCV: “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.

Jesus Spoke to His Disciples.

Jesus calls the Holy Spirit “another Comforter.” The Holy Spirit, the “One called alongside to help.” The Holy Spirit continues what Christ Himself did while on earth. Jesus promises to send another Comforter. The Holy Spirit will do for the disciples what Christ did for them while He was with them. The Spirit will be by their side to help and strengthen them; to teach the true course for their lives; to comfort in difficult situation; to intercede in prayer for them; to be a friend to them and to remain with them forever.

Jesus is the first Comforter and the Holy Spirit is another Comforter. Jesus is still our helper and intercessor in heaven [Heb.7:25], while the Holy Spirit is our indwelling helper and intercessor on earth [Rom. 8:9,26].

There will be a time to remind ourselves that we have the Comforter, Jesus and the Holy Spirit when there is going to be “The Great Falling Away” Christians. It is not a time for us to worry or be anxious, but to put ourselves in complete trust in God.

Prayer: Abba, Father, we cry to You as a child ask the father, for the power of the Holy Spirit to all people who are Deaf in the whole world and to all the workers for the Deaf. May they come to know You and be able to share with other Deaf about Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

Chorus: The Comforter Has Come
The Comforter has come, The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n, The Father’s promise giv’n;
O spread the tidings ‘round, wherever man is found,
The Com..forter.. has come!....
