Hebrews 10:23 NCV: Let us hold firmly to the hope that we have confessed, because we can trust God to do what he promised.
Hebrews 11:11 KJV: Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged (counted) Him faithful who had promised.
Do you ever felt like giving up on God’s promises? Here is the Bible Story to remember that Sarah had given up God’s promise to have a son when she “borrowed” Hagar to give birth to Ishmael and had a son through Ishmael. God spoke to Abraham that He still keeps His promise to bless Abraham and Sarah with a son from his seed. Abraham and Sarah waited 25 years on God’s promise. When the time came, God gave Sarah the strength to conceive seed from Abraham and nine months later they had a son. Sarah counted God faithful who had kept His promise. God promised a descendant from Abraham and 42 generations later, Christ was born [Matthew 1:17].
Hebrews 10:23 tell us in King James Version “Let us hold fast (tight) the profession (confession) of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised…” This is a word of encouragement to hold on to what we believe in God’s promises to us without doubt, and without wavering. Wavering means hesitate, undecided, unsure, or easily give up. God’s Word tells us to hold tight to His Word. Sarah declared God is faithful who has kept His promised. Let us be like Sarah and we say, “God is faithful to His Word. He will do what He has promised. Let us trust His faithfulness.”
Song: Great Is Thy Faithfulness
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou has been Thou forever wilt be.
“Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand has provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
