Wait On The Lord

Song:
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength,
They shall mount with the wings as an eagle. They shall
run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.
Teach me Lord, teach me Lord to wait.... [Author, unknown]

Isaiah 40:31 - Wait On The Lord.

KJV: "... they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Notes from The Full Life Study Bible by Zondervan:

To wait on the Lord is to trust Him fully with our lives. It involves looking to Him as our source of help and grace in time of need [Ps. 25:3-5; 27:14; Luke 2:25,38]. Those who wait upon the Lord are promised: (1) the strength of God to revive them in the midst of exhaustion and weakness, of suffering and trial; (2) the ability to rise above their difficulties as an eagle that soars into the sky; and (3) the ability to run spiritually without tiring and to walk steadily forward without fainting at God's delays. God promises that if His people will patiently trust Him, He will provide whatever is needed to sustain (support) them constantly (1Peter 1:5).

Dorothy: Sometimes waiting on God's promises can make us give up hope. In New Century Version, Isaiah 40:28-31 says: "Surely you know. Surely you have heard. The LORD is the God who lives forever, who created all the world. He does not become tired or need to rest. No one can understand how great his wisdom is. HE GIVES STRENGTH TO THOSE WHO ARE TIRED AND MORE POWER TO THOSE WHO ARE WEAK. EVEN CHILDREN BECOME TIRED AND NEED TO REST, AND YOUNG PEOPLE TRIP AND FALL. But the people who trust the LORD will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired."

Prayer: Lord, we ask You for strength to continue to trust in You. We ask You to open our spiritual eyes to see who You are, "The Lord, the God who lives forever, who created all the world." Holy Spirit, we ask You to help us to become humble before Him and know that "No one can understand how great His wisdom is." Help us to love God and cherish Him and know that He has a great plan for all of us. Thank You for making us feel good inside. We know You feel good when we keep trusting You. Thank You and thank You again, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen!
