God is With You - 7/28-31

28-31 July 2016 - God is With You – Today’s Verse by Dorothy Callies

Genesis 21:22 KJV: “God is with thee in all that thou doest.” NCV: “God is with you in everything you do.”

Reading from Genesis 20:1-17; 21:22-33, a story of Abraham was traveling in the land of Canaan. Abraham come to a place called Gerar.  Abimelech, the king of Gerar took Sarah. God came to the king in a dream not to touch her. The king learned that Sarah was the wife of Abraham when the king thought Sarah was a sister to Abraham.

The king returned Sarah to Abraham and settled the problem. The king blessed Abraham with animals and servants. Abraham went away.  Later on, Abimelech and Phichol, the chief captain of his host spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in everything you do.”

Why did Abimelech and Phichol blessed Abraham? They must have seen God’s work in Abraham’s life and all that that he does.  Abraham’s servants had made a well of water. Abimelech’s menservants were claiming a well of water and Abimelech didn’t know there were problem until he met Abraham. So Abraham made covenant with Abimelech that there would be peace and returned a well of water back to Abraham.

Abimelech blessed Abraham and allowed him to travel in the land of Philistines for many days.  The point of this story … how God protected Abraham in all that he does. First, gave back his wife, Sarah that Abimelech took. Second, gave back a well of water that was stolen from Abraham. Third, allow Abraham to stay in the strange land.

Abraham gave up his home of Ur and Haran and came into the strange land by faith. It was Abraham’s faith that God promised him a nation from generation to come. Truly, God was with Abraham in all he did. This story inspired me to trust God and God promised a blessing in all that we do.

So trust God today!!

Song: God Can Do Anything But (except) Fail

God can do anything, anything, anything.
God can do anything, but (except) fail.
He’s the Alpha and Omega,
     the beginning and the end.
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
God can do anything, anything, anything.
God can do anything but (except) fail.
