God is With You - 7/28-31

28-31 July 2016 - God is With You – Today’s Verse by Dorothy Callies

Genesis 21:22 KJV: “God is with thee in all that thou doest.” NCV: “God is with you in everything you do.”

Reading from Genesis 20:1-17; 21:22-33, a story of Abraham was traveling in the land of Canaan. Abraham come to a place called Gerar.  Abimelech, the king of Gerar took Sarah. God came to the king in a dream not to touch her. The king learned that Sarah was the wife of Abraham when the king thought Sarah was a sister to Abraham.

The king returned Sarah to Abraham and settled the problem. The king blessed Abraham with animals and servants. Abraham went away.  Later on, Abimelech and Phichol, the chief captain of his host spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in everything you do.”

Why did Abimelech and Phichol blessed Abraham? They must have seen God’s work in Abraham’s life and all that that he does.  Abraham’s servants had made a well of water. Abimelech’s menservants were claiming a well of water and Abimelech didn’t know there were problem until he met Abraham. So Abraham made covenant with Abimelech that there would be peace and returned a well of water back to Abraham.

Abimelech blessed Abraham and allowed him to travel in the land of Philistines for many days.  The point of this story … how God protected Abraham in all that he does. First, gave back his wife, Sarah that Abimelech took. Second, gave back a well of water that was stolen from Abraham. Third, allow Abraham to stay in the strange land.

Abraham gave up his home of Ur and Haran and came into the strange land by faith. It was Abraham’s faith that God promised him a nation from generation to come. Truly, God was with Abraham in all he did. This story inspired me to trust God and God promised a blessing in all that we do.

So trust God today!!

There is a Song Today - 7/27

This early morning I woke up with a song in my heart that I remembered.

Song: Oh, Say, But I’m Glad
(By James P. Sullivan, Sing His Praise!)
1. There is a song in my heart today,
Something I never had;
Jesus had taken my sins away;
Oh, say, but I’m glad!
Chorus:
Oh say, but I’m glad, I’m glad;
Oh say, but I’m glad!
Jesus has come, and my cup’s overrun;
Oh say, but I’m glad!

2. Wonderful, marvelous love He brings
Into a heart that’s sad;
Through darkest tunnels the soul just sings,
Oh say, but I’m glad! (Chorus)

3. Won’t you come to Him with all your care,
Weary and worn and sad?
You too, will sing as His love you share,
Oh say, but I’m glad! (Chorus)

Today’s Verse: 1 Peter 4:13 “But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. NLT: “Instead, be very glad—because these trials will make you partners with Christ in His suffering, and afterward you will have the wonderful joy of sharing His glory when it is displayed (shown) to all the world.”

Peter, the writer of Epistle (letter) must have gone through so much suffering to be able to write this. Paul, who wrote Corinthians, also went through suffering and he quoted, “Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2Cor. 12:9b).

How can we be glad in our sufferings? How can we experiencing pleasure, joy, or delight when we are in pain? Holy Spirit help! Holy Spirit said, “Do you remember how much Christ suffered in great pain for you?  Could you measure your pain compare with Christ’s pain?” Pondering … measure …? My answer: “There’s no measure with Christ’s pain compare with mine. Mine pain is small compare to Christ’s terrible pain.”

Holy Spirit: “Then be glad that you are partners with Christ in His suffering. You get a little taste of what His pain was really like. When you see Him, you will be glad that you will have wonderful joy of sharing His glory.” Thank you, Holy Spirit for the wisdom you have given to us.  Thank you!

May the Lord bless you today!

Wonderful Works - Today V. 7/26

Psalm 111:4 KJV, “He hath made His wonderful works to be remembered: The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.”

What do you remember about God’s wonderful works?  What I remember was when God met our needs day by day with strength, healing and financially. Sometimes I felt like God isn’t finish working in Tony and me. God has work for us to do, but even when we can’t see what He is doing.  That is called, “Faith.” So what is faith?

In Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” NLT: “What is faith? It is the confidence assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.  It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.”

Although we cannot see the work of God, yet He is working … He keeps us every moment by trusting in His grace … We will be glorified when we shall meet Him soon. That is what God is working in us … to be glorified for Christ …

Song: Wonderful Savior
  (By J. M. Harris, Sing His Praise)
Wonderful Savior, wonderful Savior,
Thou art so near, so precious to me;
Wonderful Savior, wonderful Savior,
 My heart is filled with praises to Thee.

May the Lord bless you today.

Wonderful - Today's Verse 7/25

Out of the blue, the chorus came to me and Holy Spirit inspired me to sing this. And I searched for the verses that would come with this song.

Song: Wonderful, Wonderful

Wonderful, wonderful, Jesus is to me,
Counselor, Prince of peace,
Mighty God is He;
Saving me, keeping me,
from all sin and shame,
Wonderful is my Redeemer,
Praise His name!
(Inspiring choruses)

Psalm 107:8 KJV, “Oh the men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.”  NLT: “Let them praise the Lord for His great love and for all His wonderful deeds to them.”

Dorothy:  Why should we praise the Lord for His goodness? Because He is our Creator and He created all things.  Every morning, when Tony and I would come out of the apartment building, walking toward our car, sometimes I would look up at the sky, so blue with clouds. It just reminds me that God is the Creator and I sometimes tell Tony that our earth is “hanging” in the space. It is a miracle!

It is just a feeling of His wonderful works to us. We are living on this planet with a huge universe.  When I think of all this, the feeling inside of me would grow warm, a feeling of blessings. Then I know that God is pleased with this thought of Him. “Oh that we would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works toward us.” Isn’t He wonderful? Yes, Jesus is to me.

God bless you today!

Savior Reached - Today Verse 7/24

24 July 2016 - My Savior Reached Down – Today’s Verse

Song: When My Savior Reached Down For Me
            (Written by G.E. Wright)
1. Once my soul was astray from the heavenly way,
I was wretched and file as could be;
But my Savior in love gave me peace from above,
When He reached down His hand for me.
Chorus:
When my Savior reached down for me,
When my Savior reached down for me;
I was lost and undone, without God or His Son,
When my Savior reached down for me.

2. I was near to despair when He came to me there,
And showed me that I could be free;
Then He lifted my feet, gave gladness complete,
When He reached down His hand for me. (Chorus)

3. How my heart does rejoice when I hear His sweet voice
In the tempest (trouble), to Him I then flee,
There to lean on His arm, safe, secure from all harm,
Since He reached down His hand for me. (Chorus).

Today’s problem led me to sing this song and verses for today for the words of encouragement from the Holy Spirit:  Heb. 10:35-36  NCV  “So do not lose the courage you had in the past, which has a great reward.  You must hold on, so you can do what God wants and receive what He has promised.   Phil. 1:6 “God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure He will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.”

There’s war inside of us but “we are not wrestling against the flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” so I am taking the whole armour of God, His Presence with me.  Why?

So that I may be able to withstand against the evil day and I am doing all I can to stand up against the wiles of the devil. The whole armour of God, His Presence is with me to be strong in the Lord and be in the power of His might. (Ref: Ephesians 6:10-13)

God is my banner which means God is my Victor and I “resist the devil, and he will flee from me” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen! (Ref: James 4:7)

May the Lord delivered us from the evil days and be strong in the Lord!

Bless the Lord - Today's Verse 7/23

23 July 2016 Bless the Lord – Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 103:1-2 KJV, “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits.”

Prayer: O Heavenly Father, I thank You for this verse from Psalm 103:3-5 that You, “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Reading from The Holy Bible, New International Reader’s Version:
Psalm 103:1-5 and continue to pray and we are in desperate need of healings:
1) I will praise the Lord. Deep down inside me, I will praise Him.
2) I will praise the Lord. I won’t forget anything He does for me.
3) He forgives all my sins. He heals all my sicknesses.
4) He saves my life from going down into the grave. His faithful and tender loves makes         me feel like a king.
5) He satisfies me with good things I long for. Then I feel young and strong again, just             like an eagle.

Thank you Lord for the healing of my friends and the healing for my body by faith I hold on to Your words of benefits. You promised me and my friends healing when You said, “I will put none of these diseases upon you … I am the Lord who healed you.” (Ex.15:26c)  I won’t forget anything for all You have done for me.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Song: Bless His Holy Name
            (Andrae Crouch; Psalm 103, Sing His Praise)
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me,
Bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me,
Bless His holy name.
He has done great things… He has done great things…
He has done great things, Bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me,
Bless His Holy name.

May the Lord bless you and heal you!

New Creature - Today's Verse 7/22

22 July 2016 – A New Creature – Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

2 Cor. 5:17 NKJV, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Do you remember when you first ask Jesus to come into your heart? I remember an Evangelist Sister Essie when she met me at Pinecrest Camp in California, asked me if I had asked Jesus into my heart when I was thirteen years old. I struggled with that question when I discussed this with my deaf sister who was then 12 years older than me.

We both thought that we were Christians by going to church with our growing family. Again, the Evangelist asked the same question the second time. My deaf sister and I were puzzled, tried to figure out because we pray, we read Bible … The third same question really strike my heart, “Have you asked Jesus to come into your heart?”

Finally, it dawn on me and my deaf sister that we have not personally invited Christ into our hearts.  So Evangelist Sister Essie encouraged us to kneel on our knee and invite Jesus to come into our hearts.  What happened when we did that?  It was like a new life that was born inside of us. Like KJV quoted, “he is a new creature: old things are passed away; all things are become new.” (2Cor. 5:17)

I really felt Jesus' Presence in my heart and immediately, God spoke to me that I would someday preach His Word.  My deaf sister experience Jesus in a real way that she began to laugh in spirit.  How about you? Have you asked Jesus to come into your heart?  If you did, are you glad that you are a Christian? Let’s sing!

Song: I’m Glad I’m A Christian
     (Written by Phil Kerr, Melody Choruses)
I’m glad I’m a Christian, I’m trusting the Lord,
I’m reading the Bible, believing each word.
The past is forgiven, from sin I am free.
A mansion in heaven is waiting for me.

May God bless you today.

Draw Near - Today's Verse 7/21/16

21 July 2016 – Draw Near – Verse for the Day by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 73:28 NKJV “It is good for me to draw near to God.”

Many things going on in the world that could create fears to our soul. We wonder what’s going to happen next. When we see or hear of bad things that are happening around us, Psalm 73:28 would be good to quote, “But I am close to You.  And that’s good.  Lord and King, I have made you my place of safety.  I will talk about everything You have done” from New International Reader’s Version.

What happen when we draw near to God? His Presence will give us peace. When my body and my heart may grow weak, but God, You give strength to my heart. You, God are everything I will ever need. I don’t have anyone in heaven but You. I don’t want anything on earth besides You. [Ref: Ps. 73:25, 26]

Song: I Am Thine, O Lord
            (Fanny Jane Crosby, Sing His Praise)
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Chorus:
Draw me near-er, near-er, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me near-er, near-er, near-er, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious bleeding side.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for providing the verse for the day that reminds me that it is good for me to come near to You. My heart sense relief when I put my faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ who removed all my fears and healed my diseases. I thank You Holy Spirit for being my comforter in times of troubles. Great is the Lord Jesus who saves us from all our sins in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Have a good day, my friend!

Crown You - Today's Verse 7/20/16

Theme: Crowns You - Verse for the Day, Wed. 7/20/16

[The Lord] crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies. Psalm 103:4 NKJV.

 NKJV in verse 4 says that He redeems our life from destruction and crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies. We can see God's generous nature in the way He loves His children.  How does God loves us?  He crowns us with kindness and mercies. As I mediate and interpret that "He clothes us with His kindness and mercies." That is GRACE.

Psalm 103:2 says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and forget not all His benefits." God does something that does good to a person. That is one of His benefits is to clothes us with loving kindness and tender mercies. So God's love and grace, poured over into our lives, and we would be able to share our loving kindness and tender mercies with others. Heavenly Father, Thank You for these words of encouragement in Jesus' name. Let us sing.

Song: We'll Give the Glory to Jesus
We'll give the glory to Jesus,
And tell of His love,
     and tell of His love;
We'll give the glory to Jesus,
       and tell of His wonderful love.
              (Inspiring Choruses)

 May the Lord bless you today.

Jesus, "I AM" of N.T. 7/26-30

26-30 July 2016 - Jesus “I AM” of N.T.  – Manna Studies by Dorothy

Jesus Is the “I AM” of the New Testament – John 8:56-59
          John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
          (1)  Jesus fully disclosed (showed) His deity (that He was the God-Man) when He said, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” What did the Jews thought of this? They were ready to stone Him. Why? They thought He was wrong.
          (2)  Another time Jesus said, “I and My Father are one.” When the Jews took up stones to stone Him, Jesus asked, “For which of those works do you stone Me?” They answered, “For the good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God” (John 10:30-39). (See 2b)
          (2b) The word, blasphemy means to speak harm; great disrespect shown to God or to sacred persons or things.  In the Bible’s dictionary, “blasphemy is an attitude of disrespect that finds expression in an act directed against the character of God.”
          (3)  If the Jews knew that Jesus was indeed the God-Man, they would have believed in Him and worshiped Him. But they did not know, because the god of this age (Satan) had blinded their minds (2Cor. 4:3,4). Satan continues to blind the minds of unbelievers to the glorious fact (proof) that Jesus is God.
          (4)  Now think on this awesome question.  If Jesus is not God, then who is He?  He is either the Deity (God) or demonic! (Mark 3:22). Even the Scribes called him “prince of the devils!” Either He is the truth or He is the chief of all liars (John 14:6).
          (5)  Let us look at the “I AMs” in the Gospel of John, where He declared that He is Jehovah God.
                   (1)  “I AM the bread of life (Jn.6:32-25).
                   (2)  “I AM the light of the world (Jn.8:12-20).
                   (3)  “I AM the door of the sheep” (Jn.10:7-10).
                   (4)  “I AM the good shepherd” (Jn.10:11-16).
                   (5)  “I AM the resurrection and the life” (Jn.11:25-27, 38-44).
                   (6)  “I AM the way, the truth, and the life” (Jn.14:6).
                   (7)  “I AM the vine” (Jn.15:1-8).

                   Key: He is truly the Great “I AM.”  Let’s sing!
“He’s the Lord of Glory, He is the Great I am;
He’s the Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end.
His name is Wonderful, The Prince of Peace is He;
The Everlasting Father Throughout eternity.”
(Written by Phyllis G. Spiers, Sing His Praise)

Jesus, "I AM" of O.T. 7/21-25

Jesus Is the “I AM” of the Old Testament – Exodus 3:13-15
          Exodus 3:14 “And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.”
          (1)  Moses was taking care of his father-in-law’s sheep. Moses led the sheep to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.  Moses saw a burning bush with fire that was not consumed (destroyed or disappeared). Moses was curious and he turned aside to see why the bush does not burn. (Read Exodus 3:1-6).
          (2)  “And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush” (v.2), saying, “Do not draw near this place.  Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground” (v.5).
          (3)  Then the Angel of the Lord revealed His identity (find out who He is): “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (v.6).
          (4)  In John 8:58, Jesus looked back in time to this event and identified (to show who He is) Himself as the great “I AM.”  Jesus did not say, “Before Abraham was, I was.” He said, “Before Abraham was, I AM.”
          (5)  Jesus claimed that He was always there before Abraham. Jesus declared Himself to be the eternal living God.  Jesus claimed to be the Creator of everything in God’s universe. “All things were created through Him and for Him” (Col. 1:16).
          (6) When God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” what does God mean? God is saying, “I am self-existent, (I am real. I am alive. I continue to live forever.) I am eternal Jehovah God.”  He is the great I AM.
          (7)  There’s a song called, “He’s the Lord of Glory.”  Chorus:
“He’s the Lord of Glory, He is the Great I am;
He’s the Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end.
His name is Wonderful, The Prince of Peace is He;
The Everlasting Father Throughout eternity.”
(Written by Phyllis G. Spiers, Sing His Praise)

  Dorothy: What did I learn from this? That Jesus is the “I AM” in the Old Testament. It was like a “hidden clue” and I didn’t realized it was Jesus, Himself who was the “Angel of the Lord” who appeared to Moses and called Himself, “I AM.” Jesus gave us the clue from John 8:58, “Before Abraham was, I AM.”

Unique Second Coming 7/16-20

16-20 July 2016 - Unique Second Coming – Share Manna by Dorothy
 (Unique=very unusual; special notice; only one of its kind; one and only)

 He Will Be Unique in His Second Coming
            Matt. 16:27 “For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.”
            Forty days after His resurrection, as He ascended, “two men stood by them [the apostles] in white apparel [clothes], who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven?  This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner [in the same way] as you saw Him go into heaven’” (Acts 1:10,11).
            This was the promise again that Christ alone would someday return to earth personally and bodily.  Buddha, Confucius, and every world leader is gone forever—but the unique of Christ is coming again! Hallelujah!
            Christ’s second coming will see Him return, not as the Lamb that had been slain, but in the power as the Lion of Judah (Rev. 5:5-6).  Christ will finally be a different person when He comes again! There’s a song called, The Lion of Judah.

Song:  The Lion of Judah.
“The Lion of Judah shall break every chain
            and give to us the victory again and again.
The Lion of Judah shall break every chain
            and give to us the victory again and again.”
                        (Author, unknown)

            Christ will reward us … what does that means?  It means Jesus knows what you are going through and you held on to Him … that’s why He will reward you for your holding on to Him.  It will be worth it.  He will reward you!

             So trust Jesus, the Lion of Judah is coming!
