March 11-12, 2014 - The
Voice of the Lord – Manna by Dorothy Callies
Psalm 29:3, KJV,
“The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the
Lord is upon many waters.” NLT, “The voice of the Lord echoes above the
sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.”
The theme is that God
reveals His great power in nature. This should encourage us to trust God to
give us both the peace and the strength to face the storms of life. David wrote
what the voice of the Lord was like. How could David know about this unless
David had seen or heard what God had done?
Reading from Psalm 29:4-11, NLT,
“The voice of the Lord is powerful; the
voice of the Lord is full of
majesty. 5) The voice of
the Lord splits the mighty
cedars; the Lord shatters the
cedars of Lebanon. 6) He makes Lebanon’s
mountains skip like a calf and Mount Hermon to
leap like a young bull. 7)The
voice of the Lord strikes with
lightning bolts. 8) The
voice of the Lord makes the
desert quake; the Lord shakes the desert of Kadesh. 9) The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In
his Temple
everyone shouts, “Glory!” 10) The
Lord rules over the floodwaters. The
Lord reigns as king forever. 11) The Lord gives his people
strength. The Lord blesses them
with peace.”
*The cedars of
Lebanon were giant trees that could grow to 120 feet in height and 30 feet in
circumference. A voice that could split the cedars of Lebanon would be a truly
powerful voice—the voice of God. Throughout the history, God has revealed His
power through mighty miracles over nature. He promises to continue to reveal
His power. [*Note from QVLA Bible]
Paul urged us to
understand how great God’s power is. It is the same power that raised Christ
from the dead and His power is available to help us with our daily problems.
When you feel weak and limited, don’t despair. Remember that God, the voice
of the Lord can give you strength. It is the same power of strength He
gives you that controls creation and raises Christ from the dead. (Ref:
Ephesians 1:18-23) If you, with the Holy Spirit’s help, understood this, then
claim God’s power of healing flowing into your body right now, in Jesus’ name,
I pray. Amen!
May the Lord enrich
you with His blessing through the song of praise!
Song: How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God, when I
in awesome wonder
Consider all the
worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars; I
hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout
the universe displayed.
Chorus:
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
