Fellow Citizens with God's People

March 25-26, 2014 - Fellow Citizens with God's People – Manna by Dorothy Callies

Ephesians 2:19 “… ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints …” (You are members of God’s family)

Reading from KJV: “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God. And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together growth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Reading from NLT: Ephesians 2:11-22, talked about one in Christ. It was through Christ’s death on the cross brought two groups (Jews and Gentiles) together into one body. V.19 “So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. V.20 We are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. V.21 We who believe are carefully joined together, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. V.22 Through him you Gentiles are also joined together as part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

We have an access to our heavenly Father through Christ – His shed blood on the cross and His heavenly intercession for all who come to Him. The Spirit’s indwelling power makes it possible to pray and call on God according to His will and purpose. (Eph.2:18)

It has been a burden on my heart to share the concerns with those who are in need of prayers. Some of you have shared your need to pray with you. I would like to know if you like for me to record your names and your needs for all the readers to join as prayer warriors. The Lord gave me a verse that we are not strangers to one another, but that we are members of God’s family. Reading the Scriptures inspired me to do something for those who are struggling and that we could join together in prayer for them.

What I will do is to put a different document of date, names and request. When prayers are answered, I will put under “Praise and Thanksgiving” with dates. Seeing this on the list would encourage us to pray more fervently. As I wrote this earlier before going with Tony and I came home surprised how God answered prayer. I realized God was showing me how powerful prayer group are as long as we call upon God according to His will and purpose. I asked a few for permission to record their names and needs so I will work on it. So I rejoice that God bind us together and there’s a song called “Bind Us Together.”

Prayerfully: Bind us together, Lord; Bind us together with cords that cannot be broken. Bind us together, Lord; Bind us together, Lord; bind us together with love. There is only one God. There is only one King. There is only one Body, That is why we can sing: Bind us together, Lord; Bind us together with cords that cannot be broken. Bind us together, Lord, bind us together, Lord; bind us together with love. (Bob Gillman, Sing His Praise)

Song: Blest Be the Tie That Binds
Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.
(John Fawcett, Sing His Praise)
