Verses for the Day: Deut.3:28 [God said to Moses]
MOSES IS TO ENCOURAGE AND STRENGTHEN JOSHUA.
NIV: But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see.
AMP: But charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to possess the land which you shall see.
NCV: Appoint Joshua and help him be brave and strong. He will lead the people across the river and give them the land that they are to inherit, but you can only look at it.
Dorothy:
Moses’ time was up and now Joshua was taking his place to lead the people. God asked Moses to encourage him and make him strong. It can be a scaring job for Joshua to take his place so it was important for Moses to keep Joshua from feeling overwhelmed. Joshua felt strengthened and stronger. Joshua had the courage to lead the people into the new land. So Moses blessed Joshua and encouraged him to lead on and God would be with him as He had been with Moses.
Has God ever asked you to do something for Him? Sometimes a person would “hide” because he or she is so scared to do something “big” for God. Sometimes it takes a friend to give a “gentle push” and encouragement. They need to feel connection: your strength to give them strength to obey the Lord. Think about Joshua. Think about how God had spoken to Moses to encourage Joshua to lead on. Maybe there is someone out there waiting for you to be like Moses, to encourage “The Deaf Joshua” to do something for the Lord. If the Lord has asked you to do something for Him and you are “scared,” find a friend you could trust and talk about it. Let your friend give you “strength.” Let your friend help you to obey the Lord if God ask you to do something for Him.
It is a blessing to encourage someone today. It seems to make you feel good. I pray that you will “give strength” to someone today. This reminds me of a song called, “Make me a blessing”. Wow!
