The Most Important Command –
“Love God with all your strength”.
Mark 12: 28-34 New Century Version
One of the teachers of the law came and heard Jesus arguing with the Sadducees. Seeing that Jesus gave good answers to their questions, he asked Jesus, “Which of the commands is most important?” v29 Jesus answered, “The most important command is this: ‘Listen, people of Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord. V30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ V31 The second command is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ There are no commands more important than these.”
V32 The man answered, “That was a good answer, Teacher. You were right when you said God is the only Lord and there is no other God beside Him. V33 One must love God with all his heart, all his mind and ALL HIS STRENGTH. And one must love his neighbor as he loves himself. These commands are more important than all the animals and sacrifices we offer to God.” When Jesus saw that the man answered him wisely, Jesus said to him, “You are close to the kingdom of God.” And after that, no one was brave enough to ask Jesus any more questions.
Deuteronomy 6:3-8 NCV: The Command to Love God
Listen, Israel, and carefully obey these laws. Then all will go well for you, and you will become a great nation in a fertile land, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. V4 Listen, people of Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord. V5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. V6 Always remember these commands I give you today. V7 Teach them to your children, and talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. V8 Write them down and tie them to your hands as a sign. Tie them on your forehead to remind you and write them on your doors and gates.
Dorothy:
I encourage you to get to know Him, to cherish Him, get acquaintance with Him, and study His Word. It is through reading the New Century Version that I came to know Him more and more. It is the language that helped me to understand who God really is. Holy Spirit opens up the “Mystery of Christ” through the Scriptures. There are many crossed studies from the Old Testament and the New Testament together. Praise His name.
Song: The Deaf Shall Know....
The Deaf shall know Him to know is life--
The Deaf shall know the Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Deaf shall know the Life, the Truth, the Way.
The Deaf shall know that Jesus came to save.
The Deaf shall have His Spirit from above.
The Deaf shall know the fullness of His Love.
The Deaf shall 'hear' the Word of God in signs.
The Deaf shall say, that "Jesus now is mine."
[Heard this from Deaf Convention in 1970's and copy was given to me by Karen and Preston Lindsay][Writer of the song, unknown]
