Jesus is Your Security

February 22-24, 2014 - Jesus is Your Security – Manna by Dorothy Callies

Isaiah 40:26a “Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things …” (KJV)

I think it is important to know the word, security. It means that state of being secure and something given as a pledge or promise. The word, secure means confident and feel safe with. We want to feel safe that He is our security. So God is speaking to our hearts so let’s read the Manna today.

What does God wants us to lift up our eyes to look at? Psalm 147:4 “He telleth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names.” So Isaiah 40:26 was talking about the “stars.” Isaiah 40:26 “Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things that bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth.”

God, the Holy One says, “Can you compare Me to anyone? Is anyone equal to Me? Look up to the skies. Who created all these stars? He leads out the army of heaven one by one and calls all the stars by name. Because He is strong and powerful, not one of them is missing. People of Jacob, why do you complain? People of Israel, why do you say, “The Lord does not see what happens to me; He does not care if I am treated fairly”?  Surely you know. Surely you have heard. The Lord is the God who lives forever, who created all the world.” (Isaiah 40:25-28a NCV continue)

“He does not become tired or need to rest. No one can understand how great His wisdom is. He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak. Even children become tired and need to rest, and young people trip and fall. But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired.” (Isaiah 40:28b-31 NCV)

The Lord God even ask His own people, “Why do you say, ‘The Lord does not see what happens to me?’” We still need to trust the Lord even when the weather is acting “crazy.” Even when we struggle day by day, walking on ‘ice’ carefully. We had to pray, “Lord, help us to get through this.” The Lord does see this and He wants us to know that He is our security. Remember the stars He has created and He called them all by names. Let us count our blessings and see what God has done.

           Song: Count Your Blessings
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
Count your blessings, Name them one by one;
Count your blessings, See what God has done;
Count your blessings, Name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, See what God hath done.
