Listen to God

Devotion from Dean Hardy responds to part 3.

Thank you Dorothy for your words of hope for God's people who are thirsty in a dry land. This morning as I continued to read through Jeremiah, I read the 'Word' of the LORD to His people:

"I have listened to them very carefully, but they do not say what is right. They do not feel sorry about their wicked ways, saying, 'What have I done?' Each person goes his own way, like a horse charging into a battle. Even the birds in the sky know the right times to do things. The storks, doves, swifts & thrushes know when it is time to migrate. But my people don't know what the Lord wants them to do." Jeremiah 8:6-7 NCV

Each person does as God's people did in the book of Judges & so many times through the ages "... All the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes." Judges 21:25b NLT

In the Message it says, "People did whatever they felt like doing." All the while Abba our Father stands at the gates of Heaven yearning for us to turn back to Him. He so much wants to pour out huge rivers of blessing as you shared, but He can't until His people turn back to Him. As He says via His prophet: "... Now return to me, and I will return to you ... (then) I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!" Malachi 3:7b, 10b NLT.

Oh I yearn to see this truly happen in my lifetime where God's blessing is poured out all over this land from sea to sea. Lord, may Your kingdom come here & now on earth where we see Your will is done just like it is in Heaven.

Serving the Master together,

Dean
