March 2017 - Harvest Home – Manna by Dorothy Callies
James
5:8 “You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is
at hand.”
You also be patient . . . Whoa! Who wants to be
patient? James did! Did you know that James was the half-brother of Jesus? James
had been with Jesus, his half-brother all his life. James was one of the
half-brother who had doubted that Jesus was truly the Messiah. James saw his
half-brother, Jesus on the cross. James
just can’t believe that Jesus bore all that suffering from stripes and being nailed
to the cross.
James
saw that Jesus was very patient until Jesus said, “It is finished.” James saw Jesus being alive from the dead. James saw his half-brother went up to
heaven. James was there on the Day of
Pentecost and James was filled with Holy Spirit.
Finally,
James was convinced how important it is to be patient in time of suffering. So
James encouraged us and wrote, “You also be patient!” So how do I get to be
patient? James encouraged us to establish
your hearts . . .
Establish your hearts . . . It means you are to take control of what is going
on in your hearts . . . Sometime we
tends to complain or gripe about problems, troubles, etc. The root problem is the heart where the
emotion area tends to get out of hand. So James encouraged us to be firm and be
strong. And don’t allow your heart loses its
patience.
For the coming of the Lord is at hand . . . It means Jesus could come anytime. Just be
ready like a farmer who waits for the precious fruit of the earth and has long
patience for it. Also James wrote in
verse 7, “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord.” We will soon “harvest home” and it would be
well worth it.
Song: We’ll Work Till
Jesus Comes
(Lyrics:
Elizabeth Mills, Sing His Praise)
O land of rest, for thee I sigh!
When
will the moment come?
When
I shall lay my armor by
And
dwell in peace at home?
Chorus:
We’ll
work till Jesus comes,
We’ll
work till Jesus comes,
We’ll
work till Jesus comes,
And
we’ll be gathered home.
Jesus
said, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. In this world you have been
facing a lot of troubles, but I have spoken to you that in Me you can have
peace. Yes, I say unto you, do not let your heart be troubled, and do not let
yourself become afraid. This peace I am giving to you right now. Let your hearts be at peace in My name! Yes,
in Jesus’ name. I say, Amen!” [Ref: John
16:33; John 14:27]
Dorothy:
Wow! Thank You, Jesus! Amen! We need to really ‘hear’ that! We love You!
