Face to Face (1/23-24)

Luke 9:29-31 NLT, “And as He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothing became dazzling white. Then two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared and began talking with Jesus. They were glorious to see. And they were speaking of how He was about to fulfill God’s plan by dying in Jerusalem.”

Jesus might have prayed for a while since Peter, John and James were very drowsy and had fallen asleep. Now they woke up and saw Jesus’ glory and two men standing with him. As Moses and Elijah were leaving, Peter got so excited and blurted out, “This is wonderful! Let’s make three shrines—one for Jesus, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

A cloud came cover them; and Peter, John and James were terribly afraid. A voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, Listen to Him.” Then the cloud was gone. They looked around, and Moses and Elijah were gone, and only Jesus was with them. [Ref. Luke 9:28-36; Matt. 17:1-13; Mark 9:2-13 in NLT]

Inspiration: I had a question, wondering, what would happen if a person pray to God for a while. Would there be anything during prayer time? Then somehow, God led me to read the “Transfiguration” scriptures. Some of the commentaries quoted, “The Transfiguration revealed Christ’s divine nature” and “God’s voice at the Transfiguration gave authority to Jesus’ words.”

Here’s what impressed me. Peter, John and James had a wonderful experience of who Christ really was. Jesus was God’s own Son. They saw the transformation in Jesus, face to face. Then God said, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him.” Then it dawn on me. God emphasized was “Listen to Him.” The dictionary, ‘listen’ means pay attention in order to hear and to give heed and take notice of and follow advice.

Then God spoke to me, “All those times of your reading, studying, praying for understanding My Words, I was there with you. You already did what I want for you to do, was to listen to Jesus’ Words from the Bible. Didn’t you feel My Presence many times? Didn’t you feel any inspiration from the Words I had shown you? Didn’t you write My Manna that was Fresh from Heaven? I was there speaking to you sometimes when you took nap, didn’t I?”

Oh, Lord, thank You for speaking to me and correcting me. Then God spoke to my heart, “Someday you will see Jesus, face to face. For now, listen to Jesus’ Words and study them and share it with others.”

My friend, “listen to Jesus” was what God had told Peter, John and James to do. Their “listening to Jesus” was put into writings: John wrote the Gospel, three letters and Revelation and Peter wrote two letters. We have the Bible today which tells us that someday, we’ll see Him, “Face to Face.” The song often is a blessing.
                                 Song: Face to Face
Chorus:
Face to Face I shall behold Him, Far beyond the starry sky--
Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

1. Face to face with Christ my Savior, Face to Face what will it be--
When with rapture I behold Him, Jesus Christ who died for me?
[Chorus]

2. Only faintly now I see Him, With the darkened veil between--
But a blessed day is coming When His glory shall be seen.
[Chorus]

3. Face to face! O blissful moment! Face to face--to see and know--
Face to face with my Redeemer, Jesus Christ who loves me so.
[Chorus]    [Lyrics: Carrie E. Breck; 1Cor.13:12; Music: Grant Colfax Tullar]

Enriched In Christ (1/21-22)

Song: The Windows of Heaven Are Open
The windows of heaven are open,
God's blessing are falling tonight.
There's joy, joy, joy in my heart,
Since Jesus made everything right.
I gave Him my old tattered garment,
He gave me a robe of pure white;
I'm feasting on manna from heaven,
And that's why I am happy tonight.
[Collection of Choruses]

Enriched in Christ - I Corinthians 1:4-5

KJV: I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in everything ye are ENRICHED by Him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge.
AMP: I thank my God at all times for you because of the grace (the favor and spiritual blessing) of God which was bestowed on you in Christ Jesus. [So] that in Him in every respect you were ENRICHED, in full power and readiness of speech (to speak of your faith), and complete knowledge and illumination (to give you full insight unto its meaning).
NCV: I always thank my God for you because of the grace God has given you in Christ Jesus. I thank God because in Christ you have been MADE RICH in every way, in all your speaking and in all your knowledge.

Christ Live in You Richly - Colossians 3:16-17
KJV: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing (encouraging) one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.
NCV: Let the teaching of Christ live in you richly. Use all wisdom to teach and instruct each other by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Everything you do or say should be done to obey Jesus your Lord. And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus.

Dorothy: The word from the dictionary meaning, "enrich" has impressed me. It means to make rich or richer. Example: An education enriches your mind. Two letters, en means cause to be or make. The word rich means well supplied, valuable, and producing or yielding abundantly. Enrich really means made rich. I was blessed when the Holy Spirit brought the word to me "enrich." The windows of heaven are open when we sing and study God's word. [Part Revised from June 8, 2008 Fresh Manna Blog]

May God bless you today.

Conquerors, Yay! (1/19-20)

Romans 8:37 KJV: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. NCV: But in all these things we have full victory through God who showed his love for us.

The word, conquer means: 1. get by fighting; win by war: conquer a country. 2. overcome by force; defeat; get the better of: conquer an enemy, conquer a bad habit. 3. be victorious; be the conqueror.

SONG: WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS
We are more than conquerors thro' Him that loved us so.
The Christ who dwells within us is the greatest power we know.
He will fight beside us tho' the enemy is great;
Who can stand against us, He's the Captain of our fate.
Then we will conquer, never fear, So let the battle rage.
He has promised to be near until the end of the age.
We are more than conquerors thro' Him that loved us so;
The Christ who dwells within us is the greatest power we know.
[Word & Music: Ralph Richard Carmichael]

Let us read Romans 8:31-39 NCV "So what should we say about this? If God is with us, no one can defeat us. He did not spare his own Son but gave him for us all. So with Jesus, God will surely give us all things. Who can accuse the people God has chosen? No one, because God is the One who makes them right. Who can say God's people are guilty? No one, because Christ Jesus died, but he was also raised from the dead, and now he is on God's right side, begging [make intercession to] God for us.

Can anything separate us from the love Christ has for us? Can troubles or problems or sufferings or hunger or nakedness or danger or violent death? As it is written in the Scriptures: "For you we are in danger of death all the time. People think we are worth no more than sheep to be killed" [Psalm 44:22].

But in all these things we have full victory through God who showed his love for us. Yes, I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor ruling spirits, nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us, nothing below us, nor anything else in the whole world will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Jesus said, "Pray for strength against temptation". As for Paul, there are temptations to face, a battle to fight and things that could have made Paul give up serving God. But Paul said, "We are more than conqueror" which means, we can beat this thing. We do not allow things to defeat us. We do not give up.

How do we do that? Through the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, and also that is in us. It takes love of Christ in us to conquer things that tried to destroy us. What things that Paul said to overcome? We need to read Roman 8:31-39 again because it explains what things that can stop us from serving God and also from having the love of Christ in us.

Paul said that nothing would stop us from having Christ's love in us. We can be more than conqueror. Holy Spirit is the One who help us beat the temptation of things and keep Christ in our hearts against anything that tries to make us give up.

Jesus said,'Pray for strength against temptation.' May the Holy Spirit gives us strength to fight things and to conquer or be victorious over it. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen!

This was revised from Fresh Manna June 2008 because this inspired me so much that I want to remind myself again, "We do not give up."

Pray Pray (1/17-18)

17-18 January 2015 - Pray Pray – Devotion by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 34:6 KJV, “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”

SONG: PRAY, PRAY
(Authors: Lizzie DeArmond; Composers: Charles H. Gabriel, 1912)
1. Pray, pray when things go wrong,
And gloomy fears around you throng;
The loving God your voice will hear,
Look up to Him, He's always near.

Chorus:
Pray, pray tho' your eyes grow dim,
Go with your troubles straight to Him;
Pray, pray for God understands;
Have faith, leaving all in His dear hands.

2. Pray, pray be calm and still,
Whatever comes must be His will;
His promises like bud unfold,
Naught that is good will He withhold.

3. Pray, pray till faith grows strong,
And in your heart rings heaven's song;
Till self shall die in pure desire,
And ev'ry tho't to Him aspire.

Praise Report 1/16

16 January 2015 – Praise Report by Dorothy Callies

Psalm 32:1 Blessed is he (you) whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.”

We are thankful that Christ washed our sins with His Calvary’s blood that was shed for us. And Psalm 32:1 in NTL, “Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight.” The word blessed means be happy, be joyful that our transgression, our rebellion is forgiven and our sin is gone forever.

Christine Mitchell: Thank you for that beautiful prayer song as it lifts my spirit! I had the cold and hacking cough since Dec 26 up till now and pray The Lord to bring healing to my chest and throat in Jesus Name Amen! God bless your manna ministry and give you wisdom and guidance in Jesus' Name Amen!  We love you and your ministry! Christine

Dorothy Callies: I want to share the testimony that I am grateful for your prayers and my strength is stronger. During the “weakness season” I was not able to do much with Manna and my spirit was “down.” I asked God for help what to read from technology Bible over coffee with Tony. God spoke to my heart to start with Psalm 31. Reading and signing them out together during our coffee time each chapter a day. That’s how I came to Psalm 32:1.

Also, another surprise that encourage me greatly: Nadine May send greetings to me and here’s what she said: “Recently, I was having a conversation with my aunt and she mentioned to me that my grandmother (who is deceased) would sing this song called “Prayer Changes Things” when she prayed. She began to sing the chorus for me and after hearing it, I wrote down the words. I did a search today for the song so that I could actually listen to it and I haven’t been successful. During my search I came across your blog (June 7, 2008) and the words of the song matched what I was told by my aunt. Please, can you kindly tell me who sings this song because, I would really love to hear it. Thank you in advance for your help. It is highly appreciated. Nadine May

Dorothy: I can’t remember where I got it from. But the point was that I looked up my blog in the month of June 2008 and suddenly my spirit was “revived.” I couldn’t believe how many songs there were and how many prayers I had written. So I started to encourage myself to read them and the healing began to flows. God is reminding me … He never failed …

From Glory to Glory (1/15)

15 January 2015 – From Glory to Glory – Devotion by Dorothy Callies

2 Cor. 3:18 KJV, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass (mirror) the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

For me to understand this scripture clearly, I went into studies: From NLT, “And all of us have had that veil removed so that we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Him and reflect His glory even more.”

The glory that the Holy Spirit gives to the believer is more excellent and lasts longer than the glory that Moses experienced. By studying the Word of God and spend time with His Word, it opened our minds and we can be more like Him. In the Good News, we see the truth about Christ’s life, we can understand how wonderful God is and what He is really like.

As our knowledge deepens, the Holy Spirit helps us to continue to grow and to be more like Him. The glory is already inside of us, but when Christ come in His glory, we shall finally be like Him. This is beyond our understanding.

We need to trust Him!

SONG: FROM GLORY TO GLORY [2 COR.3:18]

From glory to glory He's changing me,
changing me, changing me.
His likeness and image to perfect in me;
the love of God shown to the world.--
For He's changing, changing me,
from earthly things to the heavenly,
His likeness and image to perfect in me.
The love of God shown to the world

Prayer Changes Things (1/13-14)

Psalm 31:3 "For Thou art my Rock and my Fortress; therefore for Thy name's sake lead me, and guide me."

Dorothy: I am asking you for prayer to be able to write Manna. Someone just ask me the name of the author who sang, Prayer Changes Things. I thought wow! It went back to June 7, 2008 and this really encourage me so I send you part of this copy.

Song: Prayer Changes Things
Chorus:
Prayer changes things; Prayer changes things.
No matter how heavy the burden you bear,
If you cast it on Jesus He'll carry your care;
And nothing can hinder the soul that will dare,
For prayer changes things.

Verse:
1. Many problems meet us on our heavenly way;
If we had no Helper we would surely stray;
But our loving Savior bids us seek His face,
Meet us at the throne of grace.

2. "Whatsoever ye desire when ye pray;"
Hear His loving promise, 'tis for you today;
Stand upon His faithfulness; fresh courage take:
"All is yours"--for His dear sake.

3. While you plead His mighty name you cannot fail,
Heeding not the darkness, nor the fiercest gale;
Shadows at His word will feel, and storms be calm,
Sorrows turn to joyful psalm.
[May Agnew Stephens]

Paul prayed that we have the love of Christ inside of us.
Ephesians 3:14-21 New Century Version
So I bow in prayer before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth gets its true name. I ask the Father in his great glory to give you the power to be strong inwardly through His Spirit. I pray that Christ will live in your hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built on love. And I pray that you and all God's holy people will have the power to understand the greatness of Christ's love--how wide and how long and how high and how deep that love is. Christ's love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with the fullness of God. With God's power working in us, God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine. To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus for all time, forever and ever. Amen.
