Patience of Jesus Christ 2/22-28/21

22-28 February 2021 – Manna by Dorothy & Tony Callies

Theme: The Patience of Jesus Christ

Dorothy: I took the time to meditate about the patience, the power of patience of how Jesus dealt with it. So I went through the details … to envision how Jesus dealt with the pain of whipping on His body one by one. One verse quote, “the fellowship of His suffering.” Paul, the Apostle of Jesus meant that we ought to know about His suffering as in power of patience.  Paul wrote “That I may know Him . . . the fellowship of His sufferings . . .” (Philippians 3:10). Paul mentioned that “we must go through much tribulation to enter into heaven” (Acts 14:22).

John also wrote in Rev. 1:9 “I, John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ …”

The Patience of Jesus Christ: I typed the details of Jesus’ being whipped on His body. I thought of His first whip and what that felt like to begin with. The whip steel had edges of the whip that would stuck to his skin and then pulled the whip that ripped or peeled His skins. Could Jesus have cried out to angels to come and deliver Him from more whip to come? Jesus didn’t. It took the power of the Holy Spirit to give Him the strength to endure each whip that really ripped his skin. Jesus was led by the Spirit … (Matt. 4:1).

2nd whip really hurt. 3rd whip hurt deeply. 4th whip were agony. 5th whip … what was Jesus thinking about? Us. He knew we need healing. Jesus took the 6th whip, 7th whip, 8th whip, 9th whip, 10th whip. Oh, this was too much. Wasn’t that enough? No, it went on to 11th whip. Call the angels? No, He thought of us. 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th whips.

Others watch in horror, how much more could Jesus take? He wants the healings for us. 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th whips. I cannot imagine how He dealt with it such severe pains. Yet Holy Spirit gave Jesus the power of patience to endure the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th whips. Oh my body would scream in pain, “That’s enough,” but Jesus didn’t stop it. 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, oh a long way to ten more whips.  [Tony looked at me and said, “God, His Father was with Jesus!” I was impressed and pondered about how God being with His Son, Jesus through His agony.]

How could Jesus endure it? He thought of us and set His goal to complete the works of healing. 30th, 31st, 32nd, 33rd, 34th, 35th, Jesus becoming so weak with so much blood all over his body and all over the concrete floor. It’s horrific picture! 36th, 37th, 38th whips. Jesus really suffered horrible pain so severe that was beyond our understanding how much He took the pains just for us. His secret? Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would “set His face like a flint (hard decision to face it)” and He was not ashamed” (Isaiah 50:7).

Isaiah 53:10 mentioned that it “pleased the Lord” God, the Father who had seen Jesus being “bruised” for just one more whip on 39th.  Why did it pleased God? Because that complete the work of Salvation that came with healing… “By His stripes, we were healed.” That took 39th whips in numbers to complete the agony of terrible pains that Jesus endured. 39 whips!  Psalm 129:3 prophesied that Jesus’ back was like a plow. “The plowers plowed upon My back: they made long their furrows.” O.T. prophesied and N.T. fulfilled! Oh the wonders that Jesus knew this and said it through King David of O.T.

Dorothy:  Why did God encouraged me to write this Manna?  Many of us are sufferings and we questioned God … does He cares? God wants me to tell you that “God loves you and that God does care.” Now God is aware of our present suffering and He mentioned you and me in Revelation. “Here is the patience of the saints … through the faith of Jesus” (Rev. 14:12). God called us “the patience of the saints.” God knows what you’re going through. Here what Paul encouraged us, “That I may know Him … the fellowship of His sufferings … and be like Him” (Phil, 3:10). Though our sufferings are small compared to Christ’s severe suffering, our sufferings helped us to get the little taste of what His suffering was like. To become Christ’s bride, you would become closer to Him and love Him even more and to be like Him in the patience of sufferings.

I felt more blessed in this Manna and I am truly inspired since it was God who spoke to me and God is speaking to you right now. It is an awesome Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ! Song came to my heart to sing this: O how I love Him (You)! How I adore Him (You)! My breath my sunshine. My all in all! The great Creator became my Savior, And in God’s fullness dwelleth in Him (You). (Inspiring Chorus)

Bow down in prayer with tears: Oh God of Heaven and earth, have mercy on us. Forgive our sins and cleanse us with the precious blood of Jesus. By His bloodiest stripes, we are healed. Thank You for the depth of Your Words. I am truly inspired with what You have shown me and share with others who are going through time of sufferings. Yes, we now know that You truly loves us and You truly cares for us and working in our lives to be like Jesus who had patience in suffering for us. In Jesus’ name. We love You, Jesus even more and more! Amen!

 God bless you!

Talk to Me 2/15-21/21

15-21 February 2021 - Manna by Dorothy and Tony Callies

Theme: God, Talk to me.

Do you ever felt like that you just want God to talk to you? I did! Yesterday, on Monday the 15th and also today the 16th. I believe God read my heart and somehow it surprised me how He really share His Word with me.

I read devotion: The Power of Patience. I thought, “What?” The fruit of the Spirit is . . . longsuffering.—Galatians 5:22. “Gee! Lord, what else is new?” Oh boy, so I read on. Here’s what impressed me, but not inspired yet.

I will summarize part of devotion. Sometimes people are in a hurry or rush things. They need to hurry like driving through the traffic, go to the store and hurry to get items, or hurry to get to the appointment on time. Hurry to do this and that. Being forced to wait sometimes causes stress and impatient (lose patience or no patience).

Here’s statement quote from Joe Stowell: “When that happens, we not only fail to be patient but we undercut the Spirit’s work in our lives. Patience is not just a virtue, it’s a fruit of the Sprit (Gal. 5:22)—which means that demonstrations of impatience reveal (show) the sour fruit of our fallen hearts rather than the sweetness of Jesus in our lives. Since God is a patient God, when we abandon patience we miss the opportunity to show our world the glory of God through our lives.” [Dot: You would have to digest this thought.]

Summarize devotion: Losing patience shows that we are more concern about our own plans rather that the needs and struggles of others. When we are not patience, it would “sour our fruit.” [Dot: Imagine that!]  When we are impatience, we miss the chance to let the Holy Spirit work on our fruit of the Spirit—longsuffering and allow God’s glory through our lives. [Dot: Whoa!]

As Joe Stowell quotes “So let’s all take a deep breath and turn our focus (attention) away from ourselves and by patiently loving others instead of ourselves in the midst of stress. Patience gives us the privilege of sharing the refreshing fruit of God with others.” [End]

Dorothy: To me that wasn’t much inspiring devotion so I questioned God … “power of patience, huh?” As I pondered for God to show me.  Then flash back came to me: Jesus, being whipped with blood flowing His back … “Jesus had power of patience to endure the whipping just for you.” Ohhh … “Jesus took the cross and walked and carried it until a man carried for Him all the way to the hill of Golgotha. Jesus had the power of patience just for you.”

When the soldiers nailed his hands and feet, “Jesus had the power of patience to endure the pains, just for you.” Ohhh … “Jesus hung the cross for six hours and the power of patience gave Him time to complete the work of Calvary, just for you.” Ohhh … that hurts! Then God spoke, “You need the power of patience to allow Me to work on your life with daily routine.”

Prayer: Thank You, Father for showing me the value of “power of patience” through Jesus’ examples. It is new to me and thank you for loving me and others. You want others to know this and understand your work of “power of patience” in Jesus’ name!

Spiritual Birth 2/8-14/21

08-14 February 2021 – Manna by Dorothy & Tony Callies

Theme: Spiritual Birth, the Evidence (proof).

(From Bible Study revised for Manna) 2/10-11/21

1 John 4:7-8 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He (or she) who does not love does not know God for God is love.”

Everyone born of God has the love of God inside of his/her heart by the Holy Spirit who gave birth into the family of God. Every born-again believer has God’s nature to love. Everyone born of God will bring (bear) the fruit of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal.5:22-23). Everyone born of God is commanded to love his or her brother or sister (1John 4:20-21). Everyone born of God will have no fear. Perfect love casts out fear (1John 4:18).

The spiritual birth is the work of God the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit helped us to love God first in our hearts when we are spiritually born into the family of God (Gal. 3:26). Only those who have been born from above are able to love God with all their heart, soul, and mind, and loving their neighbor as themselves.

Spiritual birth is a miracle of God’s grace. It is through the Holy Spirit’s “washing of regeneration (we become family again) and renewing (restore, new again)” inside the spirit of a person. Everyone born of God is transformed, changed completely in composition, structure, or character. Transformed is a change in outward appearance.

If you are “dead in spirit,” ask Jesus to come into your heart, your inner spirit will become alive and you will feel something new inside. That is the evidence and a proof that you became a “born-again” believer and your life is transformed.

After you accept Jesus in your heart, all things have become new, including new faith to live by (Rom. 1:17), (1) a new life to enjoy (John 10:10), (2) a new birth that relates us to God the Father (John 3:1-18), (3) a new family to rejoice in (Eph. 3:15), (4) a new name given to us by the Lord (Rev. 2:17), (5) a new hope (1Peter 1:3), (6) a new home to live in (John 14:1-3), and (7) a new power to serve God in this life and in the future (Acts 1:8).

Wow! What a wonderful benefits God the Father has given to those who are born-again believer. His mercy is new every morning. Lamentations 3:23 “They are new every morning: great is thy (Your) faithfulness.” “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed (destroyed) because His compassions fail not” (Lamentations 3:22).

John 3:16 is the most powerful evidence (proof) of His love toward all the people of the world. “For God so loved the world (the people) that He gave His only begotten (birth) Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Calvary, the cross of Jesus is a powerful evidence and a proof to the world how much He loves the sinner to come to Him and to be born-again. John 3:3 Jesus said, “Unless you are born again, you cannot enter heaven.” Listen to His voice, “Come unto Me.” (Matthew 11;25).

Dorothy: Boy, what a message! This is the richest Bible Study I have ever had. The Salvation is so much clearer when you realized what you have in Christ. So I pray that your eyes be opened in Jesus’ name if you haven’t ask Jesus into your heart. But if you did, bless you!!! The angels in heaven rejoiced when you ask Jesus to come into your heart! Proof? Luke 15:10.

Song: A New Name in Glory

In the Book ‘tis written, “Saved by grace,”

O the joy that came to my soul!

Now I am forgiven, and I know

By the Blood I am made whole.

Chorus:

There’s a new name written down in glory,

And it’s mine, O yes, it’s mine!

And the white-robed angels sing the story,

“A sinner has come home.”

For there’s a new name written down in glory,

And it’s mine, O yes, it’s mine!

With my sins forgiven I am bound for heaven,

Nev-er-more to roam!

I Am Thine, O Lord 2/1-7/21

01-07 February 2021 – Manna by Dorothy & Tony Callies

Theme: Draw Me Nearer [Inspired on Feb. 3rd at 3:00 a.m.]

Song: I Am Thine, O Lord

I am Thine, O Lord

I have heard Thy voice,

And it told Thy love to me;

But I long to rise in the arms of faith

And be closer drawn to Thee. Chorus:

Draw me near-er, near-er, blessed Lord,

To the cross where Thou hast died;

Draw me near-er, near-er,

   near-er blessed Lord,

To Thy precious bleeding side. [Fanny Jane Crosby]

Dorothy: This early morning when I arose, the chorus came to my heart to sing, “Draw me nearer to the cross where Jesus had died.” So the question arose, “Why God chose the cross that Jesus had to hang on the tree?” Why the cross was called, “The Tree?” and why the tree was “a curse?”

It is found in Galatians 3:13 KJV: “. . . for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree.” NCV: . . . It is written in the Scriptures, “Anyone whose body is displayed (shown) on a tree is curse.”  Why was it cursed? Let’s look at Genesis 3:17, KJV.

“And unto Adam he (God) said, Because thou (you) hast hearkened (listen) unto the voice of thy (your) wife. And hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee (you), saying, Thou (you) shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy (your) sake; in sorrow shalt thou (you) eat of it all the days of thy (your) life.”

In the Garden of Eden, ‘The tree’ was cursed because of Adam’s sin which he ate of the fruit from a tree.  So the tree that was cursed, need to be redeemed and Jesus, the second Adam, took that curse to the cross with Him. That explained why Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree.”

Christ hang on a curse tree. That’s why God chose the “cross.”  So Christ could redeemed us from the curse which means Christ has bought us back through the blood of Jesus Christ. This is so enlightening to see why the Scripture quoted, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.”

This devotion came from watching one Jewish Rabbi on TBN when he explained why God chose the Cross that Jesus had to die. Because in Genesis, in the Garden of Eden, the tree was cursed to begin with and the cross was from a tree.  This was a mind blowing thought that the Scripture from Galatians 3:13 became clear of its meaning. Oh how rich is God’s Word and how blessed to learn from Him. Thank You, Father!

May God bless you!
