If You Can 3/29-31/19

29-31 March 2019 - If You Can – Manna by Dorothy & Tony Callies

Jesus said, "If (you) can believe, all things are possible to (anyone) that (continue to) believe." Mark 9:23 Bread Box 3/3/2010

Do you ever felt tempted to give up believing God for anything? To increase our faith, let's read God's Word. (Mark 9:20-27)

Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has this been happening?" The father answered, "Since he was very young." Father had a son that needs healing for a long time. He said to Jesus, "If You can do anything for him, please have compassion on us, and help us."

Jesus said to the father, "You said, 'If you can!' (Then) All things are possible for the one who believes." Immediately the father cried out, "I do believe! Help me believe more!" His son was healed.

So let's believe more in Jesus today for your needs!

Song: Lord, I Believe!
Lord, I believe, Lord I believe!
Savior raise my faith in thee
'till it can move a mountain.
Lord, I believe, Lord, I believe!
All my doubts are buried in the fountain.

A New Song 3/26-28/19

26-28 March 2019 - A New Song – Old Manna of
March 2010 by Dorothy & Tony Callies

"He put a new song in my mouth, a song of
praise to our God." Psalm 40:3a Bread Box

What is the purpose of a mouth? A mouth is
a place of opening where we could eat and
drink and talk, but sing? No way!

When we open our mouth, we talk. But if a
Deaf person can't talk, our hands open up
and move to sign the language to those that
understand. But sing in sign language? No way!

But God says, yes way! He put a new song, a
fresh song in our inner spirit that brings
forth praise from our mouths (hands).

So let's praise and worship Him!

Chorus

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed
Lord, To Thy precious bleeding side.
(Fanny Crosby was blind and she
wrote many, many songs)

Dorothy
P.S.   It’s so refreshing to hear God says,
“yes way!”  Holy Spirit is really the One that
help us to sing in the Spirit!  So I will sing of
the mercy of the Lord forever!  His faithfulness
to all generations. I will sing of the mercy of the
Lord.   So God bless you today!

Not Failed One Word 3/23-25/19

23-25 March 2019 - Not Failed One Word – Add on Manna by Dorothy

"There has not failed one word of all His good promise." 1 Kings 8:56
Bread Box 3/18/10

What should you do when you are not sure about God's promises? Peter has the answer to this question. "The Lord is not slow in doing what He promised the way some people understand slowness" (2 Peter 3:9a (ncv).

Sarah, Abraham's wife believe that God was too slow to keep His promises.  So she told Abraham to take Hagar, and have a son for an heir. Did God give up His promises? No, He had His plan. Sarah could not see the future. It takes faith to really trust God.

After 25 years, they finally had a miracle, a son in their old age. What was the reason for them to wait so long? God wants the generations to remember God's miracle and that His promise has never failed.  So keep trusting God!

Song: Keep on Believing

Keep on believing,
     God will answer prayer;
Keep on believing,
     never to despair;
Tho' you be heavy laden
     and burdened down with care,
Remember God still loves you
     and He answers prayer.
(Inspiring Choruses)

Dorothy
Add on Manna:
I learned from a TV preacher who expounded (made known more clearly and deeply from) the Word of God.  The question was asked, “Why Jesus was called, ‘the resurrected Christ’? Even though Christ arose from the grave after three days.  From Paul, he explained that Abraham had faith in God to make Sarah and his “dead bodies” to come to life and be able to have a child.  So Abraham and Sarah were called, “the resurrected parent” and Isaac as “resurrected child” because it was a miracle that an aged parent’s bodies came to life. [Ref: Romans 4:17-22].

So Christ’s 42 generations came from a “resurrected parent” so therefore, Jesus was a “resurrected Christ” (Matt. 1:17).  This was the most powerful testimony of what God has done, the “resurrected Abraham and Sarah” and the “resurrected Christ.”  That’s why God waited 25 years to be glorified with His wonderful handiwork of God!!!

Solomon prayed and said, "There has not failed one word of all His good promise." 1 Kings 8:56.  This truly inspired me to know that God will not fail His promise. So let us keep trusting God. It does makes me feel good just to trust His Word! I pray that you also will be encouraged and trust God in all you do. Amen!

Sing Songs 3/19-22

19-22 March 2019 - Sing Songs – Revised Manna by Dorothy and Tony Callies

"The people I made will sing songs to praise Me." Isaiah 43:21 ncv
Bread Box 3/4/10

What does singing songs of praise to God do for us? Several things!
1)   Songs of praise bring God's Presence.
2)  Songs of praise silent the enemies.
3)  Songs of praise calm our fears.
4)  Songs of praise bring victory.
5)  Songs of praise do wonders to our bodies.
6)  Songs of praise often bring healing.
7)  Songs of praise uplifted us!
Sing your favorite song unto the Lord and uplift Him! He loves you!

Song: Singing His Praises
Singing His praises
Singing His love
Singing His praises
Comes from above

Singing His praises
Oh glorious divine
Singing His praises
Jesus is mine.
(Written by Dorothy Callies)

Oh, that I may praise the Lord and His wonderful work in us!

Dorothy
PS. Prayer:  Father God, thank You for such a beautiful verse that You said that You will have people sing songs to praise You, to uplift You, to glorify You.  Thank You for Your Son, Jesus who took our sins on the cross and provide a wonderful salvation for our souls. That causes us to sing praises to You and to love You with all our hearts. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Not in Darkness 3/16-18/19

16-18 March 2019 - Not In Darkness – Manna from March 31, 2010 Dorothy  Callies

I read several devotions, I was too overwhelmed to write Manna so I asked God for help and He led me to March 2010 Manna I had written back then.  Oh, that touched my heart when I saw all the titles of “Blessed Hope” and it encouraged me so much! So I just copy it and share it with you.  Whoever believes in Jesus should not have to live in darkness.  I need to hear that. Jesus came as a light . . . Jesus knows how much I could take. So I sang the song of Sunlight! [I can’t believe I used the type 12 Times New Roman. It’s too hard for me to read.]  I leave it to show what’s like in those days.

"... whosoever believeth on Me should
not abide in darkness." John 12:46b

There are many things we don't understand
and that is like being in the dark, but
Jesus said, "I am come a light into the
world" (John 12:46a).

He asked that we believe in His light.
He promised that we will not be left in
the darkness. In John 16:12 said that He
had many things to say, but it was too
much for them. Imagine that! Jesus knows
how much you could take. He loves you
that much.

So trust Jesus today!

Dorothy

PS. Song: Sunlight
1. I wandered in the shades of night
Till Jesus came to me,
And with the sunlight of His love
Bid all my darkness flee.
Chorus:
Sunlight, sunlight in my soul today,
Sunlight, sunlight all along the way;
Since the Savior found me, took away my sin,
I have had the sunlight of His love within.
(Judson W. Van de Venter)

Why Not Now! 3/11-15/19

11-15 March 2019 - Why Not Now? – Manna by Dorothy and Tony Callies

Philippians 1:22, “But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor . . .”

I came to this devotion from our daily bread when I asked God what You want me to read. I picked up this devotion from a small plastic box and I was very surprised to see this fit my thought for Tony.  Tony asked why couldn’t he just simply go home since he could not do much on earth.  I answered with “God has a plan for you. You are a blessing to others. Also I need you around here.”  He seemed contented.

This devotion gave me so much more encouragement which are quoted from David Roper.  From Acts 13:36 “David, after he had served his own generation . . . fell asleep.”  “God has a wise and loving purpose in leaving us behind.  There is work to be done in us that can only be accomplished here on earth.  Our afflictions, which are for the moment, are working for us “a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Cor. 4:17).

“And there is work to be done for others—if only to love and to pray.  Our presence may also be for the purpose of giving others an opportunity to learn to love and compassion. So, though you may desire release for yourself or a loved one, to live on in the flesh can mean fruitfulness (Phil. 1:22).  Though heaven may be delayed, God has His reasons.  No doubt about it!” ---David Roper

Dorothy: I talked to one friend the other day and ask what she thought about me and Tony.  She explained that she and other deaf were very impressed with my ‘deep commitment’ to Tony and that it takes a lots of strength to serve him and to take care of him.  She quoted, “You have a beautiful example of patience and love toward Tony.”  I thought, “Wow, I never thought of it that way.”  That is when I understood about “fruitfulness” in Philippians 1:22, “But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor …”

Paul talked about a struggle to stay on earth or just to go home to heaven soon.  Paul explained that on earth, there is fruit of our labor.  Once we are gone to heaven that is the finished work on earth.  Our heavenly Father wants to see “fruits” because it makes Him happy according to John 15:8 “Here is My Father glorified (happy) that you bear much fruit . . .”  This was Jesus’ words to His disciples, now pass on to us “that you bear much fruit.”  Thank You, heavenly Father for showing us Your continue works in us. Make us a blessing to someone today!

Song: Make Me a Blessing
Make me a blessing,
Make me a blessing;
Out of my life may Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
(Ira Bishop Wilson, Sing His Praise)

May the Lord bless you today!

Pain No More 3/6-10/19

06-10 March 2019 – Pain No More – Manna by Dorothy and Tony Callies

What will make God wipe away every tear from their eyes?  Upon new earth, when the heavenly New Jerusalem will come down upon the ground, God will finally come out in person and all eyes shall be upon Him and His people shall see His face.  There will be a lot of tears because it’s the first time God, the Father showed Himself openly to His people in person. God Himself will wipe every tear from their eyes . . .  And there shall be no more pain . . .

Oh, isn’t this worth it?  For some who might thought it’s impossible . . . then let’s read from Revelation 21:1-4 “. . . a new heaven and a new earth . . . holy city New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God . . . Behold, God is with men, and He shall dwell with them, and they shall be His people.  God Himself will be with them and be their God.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes . . . There shall be no more pain . . . And in Rev. 22:4 “They shall see His face . . .”

What brought this up?  Pain! All kinds of pains.  Seeing the verse that quote, “no more pain,” But also seeing the verse that opened my eyes was when the new Jerusalem will be set upon a new earth, and God Himself will come out and all of us will see Him for the first time and our eyes shall be filled with tears.  He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and finally there will be no more pain.  When we look at His face for the first time, the pain just simply disappeared forever.

There are so many subjects about all kinds of “pains.” We know that God’s presence is here although we do not see His face, but His presence is so very real.  He comforts us with the pains of loss of loved ones, pains of families’ issues, pains of suffering, and many more.  God’s Words stays true and still He heals today.  What makes us able to endure all things? Face to Face with Christ.

Song: Face to Face
What rejoicing in His presence,
When are banished grief and pain,
When the crooked ways are straightened
And the dark things shall be plain.
Chorus:
Face to face I shall behold Him,
Far beyond the starry sky,
Face to face in all His glory,
I shall see Him by and by!

Face to face! O blissful moment!
Face to face—to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer,
Jesus Christ who loves me so.
Then Chorus: (Lyrics: Carrie E. Breck, Sing His Praise)

God bless you!
Dorothy

Suit Up 3/1-5/19

01-05 March 2019 - Suit Up – Manna by Dorothy and Tony Callies

Ephesians 6:13 “Take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (NKJV)

Reading the Daily Bread devotion about taking a stand really touched my heart because Tony and I were going through some rough times.  Just last Wednesday, Feb. 27, we met with our primary doctor for every six months for our routine physical check-up. Everything went fine except for Tony’s right hip, through x-ray, showed a dislocated hip which I had noticed his unusual limping just last week or so.  He is to see his Orthro doctor next Tuesday on March 4th.  I asked God for a miracle for Tony . . . and I’m “suited up” for miracle . . . so please join me in prayer for Tony.

Upon reading the story of a football player and it explained why they need to be “suit up” when they are out in the field to play.  To be “suit up” means they had to wear helmet, shoulder pads, and a variety of other protective items.  These protective gears provide protection from serious injury.  When a football player suits up, he knows that his equipment is designed to protect him in battle against a dangerous opponent.

According to devotion, *“As followers of Christ, we also face a dangerous foe—a spiritual enemy who seeks our downfall and destruction.  Fortunately, our Lord has provided us with protection, and He challenges us to “suit up” for spiritual battle.”

*“In Ephesians 6:13, we read, “Take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”  Paul then describes our armor—helmet, breastplate, belt, shoe, shield and sword.  These pieces of spiritual equipment are effective only if we put them on and use them. Faithfulness in the Word, in prayer, and in witness are critical (very important) to making our armor feel like a part of us. So suit up!  The battle is on!”  [*Quoted by Bill Crowder, Daily Bread]

I asked the Lord since we have been putting on the armor of God daily after quoting the Lord’s Prayer, morning and night, before bed time, what does it benefits us?  Reading this devotion with the article about football player, it gave me a new insight that I have never thought of as an example.  So once again, God answered my question.  That really helps me to know that Tony and I must keep going on being “suit up” for upcoming battles.

*Be not weary, Christian warrior,
Buckle on thine armor tight;
Be ye strong and face the battle
In the power of His might. –Iler
*God’s armor is tailor-made for you, but you must put it on.
[*Quote from Our Daily Bread, March 19, 2011 “Suit Up”]

May the Lord bless you real good!

Dorothy
