Declare His Glory Series 7
Ps 96:1-4 "O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Sing unto the Lord, bless His name. Declare His glory among the heathen, His wonders among all people. For the Lord is great."
From Dorothy Callies: Linda Martin of Virginia has a very unusual story when I asked her about how did she memorized a song out of her heart, "Where Art Thou?"
This is my story. When I was 10 years and 8 months old I became very ill. After a couple of months the diagnosis became spinal meningitis and very little hope that I would live. They gave me a new drug, streptomycin, knowing that it would cause hearing loss. I lived but in 4 months time went from being hearing to profound deafness. I was confined to bed rest for 3 years. We had no TV and I could not hear the radio anymore so I started reading a lot - so much that my mom was afraid I would lose my eyes also. I was soooo bored! So for some reason I asked my Dad to bring home a copy for the songbook our church used and I started memorizing it- all 303 songs. After that I would memorize any new song I found. I must have hundreds of them in my head. Smile. Sometimes one I have not thought of for a long time will pop up in my head.
When I am discouraged I have a hard time to pray myself out of it but when I start singing one song after another from memory then I soon feel my spirits lift. Music that glorifies Him means a lot to me. Some people think this is strange for a profoundly deaf person, but it is just the way the Lord made me. Smile!
Dorothy: What does that mean? Memorizing that many songs put enemies to silence (Ps. 8:2). She had lived long enough to adopt 29 deaf kids in her life time with the help of Lottie Riehof, being a grandmother who had just turned 90 this month of August 2010. At Springfield, Missouri, Central Bible College, Lottie was our former teacher of Tony, me and Linda in 1960's. Lottie wrote a book called, "Joy of Signing."
If you ever have a hard time getting out of discouragement, try singing songs of praise that would increase the "Glory of God" in your spirit and bring brightness in your eyes like Dean said. Thank you, Linda for such a marvelous story. Truly, God is glorified when a testimony is given like this.

Glory of God Series 5
Gen. 3:9 “Where are you?” Rom. 3:23 “…short of the glory of God.”
Dean: Some fascinating food for thought on this topic is that there are some who believe that our being made in the "image of God" means that the "glory of God" was what covered Adam & Eve's nakedness, so that they had no shame (Genesis 2:2). So when they “ate the forbidden fruit,” they lost that covering & were ashamed, because "they realized they were naked" (Genesis 3:7).
Dot: God said to Adam, “Where are you? I want to talk to you.” Adam said, “I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself” (Gen. 3:10). Wow! THE GLORY OF GOD WAS “THEIR CLOTHES.” They lost it! How embarrassing! They had to hide from God!
Dean: What is clear is that they lost something very important, their open daily relationship with God, their glory, their covering. Adam and Eve tried to fix this problem with fig leaves’ covering their bodies, but that was not God's way. “The Lord God make coats of skins, and clothes them” (Gen. 3:21). His way was through the blood of an innocent, pure sacrifice, thus providing a new temporary covering (animal skins). More importantly, "the blood" provided a way, back into relationship with God. This "blood" was the way, back into God's presence for several thousand years until Jesus and His "blood" became our ultimate substitute, as the Lamb that God provided (pictured in Genesis 22 and John 1:29). I am so thankful that God provided us with a way back to Him so that we can regain the glory of God and our walk with God each day.
Indeed right now we have the glory of God in us that others can see through the brightness of our eyes, which are the windows to our soul. And this glory increases as we "walk with God" as Adam and Eve once did.

It is glory just to walk with Him,
It is glory just to walk with Him;
He will guide my steps a-right,
Thro’ the vale and o’er the height; …

Glory of God Series 4
Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Bread Box August 24 2010
What does the scripture meant “come short of the glory of God?” Let’s start with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God blessed them to be fruitful and gave them responsibility of ruling over the earth, the creation and animal kingdom. Adam and Eve were busy all day until evening came, they rested. So the Lord God came down in His glory, Adam and Eve heard the voice of God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and the presence of the Lord God was among the trees of garden (Gen. 3:8).
Why was the Lord God able to do that? Adam and Eve were both created in the “image” and “likeness” of God. Because of this image, they reflect His love, glory, and holiness. They lived in a personal fellowship with the glory of God. Ever wonder what the “glory” is all about? It is heavenly bliss and splendor; wonder of all wonders; radiant and beauty; great praise and honor; source of pride and joy.
Guess what? Adam and Eve lost that “glory,” the heavenly bliss was gone. God’s glory in them was gone. Now there were no praise and honor. They lost the pride and joy of being with the Lord God. Their relationship was broken. They can’t fellowship with the Lord God. Then and there, God already had a plan to restore us back to Him. Praise God, we can have the “glory of God’ back to us through Jesus' blood. His blood washed us whiter than snow.
You see why, God said, “I miss this …” so let’s give Him our time in the cool of the evening or early wee morning.” God loves you this much.

Glory to God Series 3
"Cherubims are angelic beings who manifest the holiness and glory of God to humans." ... This reminds me of what the pastor said at Kendra's graveside. He shared with me that he was thinking of what to say when he looked up & saw all of Kendra's siblings & cousins in the front of the casket. The LORD gave him this word to say ... Bringing glory to God is to 'make Him BIG' to the world around us, just like Kendra, a little 5 year old girl, did to people around her. She made God really BIG in their eyes. This is what we are called to do, "Bring glory to God ... Make Him really BIG!" Devotion from Dean

Glory of God Series 2
Ezekiel 1:28b “This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.” Bread Box 8/20/10
Ezekiel said, “And when I saw it, I fell upon my face …” (Eze.1:28c). From the very first chapter of Ezekiel, he saw the ‘Glory of God’ in details. It would have been very difficult to describe the “Glory of God.” God has given Ezekiel a vision of His Glory in details, knowing that one day it would go into the Bible and today we are reading them. Awesome!
There are some things I would like to share: Four living creatures are later identified as cherubims (10:20). Cherubims are angelic beings who manifest the holiness and glory of God to humans. In Ezekiel’s vision, the cherubim were manifesting God’s glory and holiness to the exiles (captivity of Israel at Babylon). Ezekiel sees a supernatural throne-chariot in constant motion. God is pictured on an ever-moving mobile throne that goes wherever the Spirit commands. This symbolizes both God’s sovereign over all things and He is present with the exiles by the Chebar River where Ezekiel saw the visions of God.
As Cherubim never leave the glory of God ... likewise we, God's children are to stay in His Presence day by day.
So trust God today!
