Good News! Part 20

Song:
Stop! And let me tell you
What the good Lord's done for me;
Stop! And let me tell you
How the good Lord set me free,
For He has healed my body & saved my soul,
Baptized me and made me whole;
Stop! And let me tell you
What the good Lord's done for me.

(This song is good when you have someone
walking toward the stage, you get up, follow
the person and tap the shoulder, "Stop" and
go on singing. They would be surprised and
impressed, too.)

Dorothy:
I could think of one story of Jesus who
was walking with many people around Him.
Somebody had touched the border of his
garment and He stopped walking. He said,
Who touched Me? Peter was surprised and
said, "What? There are people all around
touching You." Jesus said, "No, this was
a special touch because I felt the power
went out of me." The woman came to Jesus
and told Him what she did. Jesus was
impressed and said to her, "Go in peace
because it was your faith that made you
whole". She was the one that stopped Jesus
from walking and she received her healing.
This story is found in Luke 8:43-48.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for this story
of hope. And give us strength not to give up
believing in Your Son, Jesus whom we could touch
Him by faith. Thank you for giving us strength to
be like this woman who was determined to be healed.
Holy Spirit, help us to remember God's promises of
healing power that belong to us, in Jesus' name. Amen!

Good News! Part 19

Song: Good News!
Good news! Good news! Christ died for me.
Good news! Good news! If I believe,
Good news! Good news! I'm saved eternally,
That's wonderful EXTRA Good news!

Ephesians 1:11-14 NVC
In Christ we were chosen to be God's people,
because from the very beginning God had decided
this in keeping with his plan. And he is the One
who makes everything agree with what he decides and
wants. We are the first people who hoped in Christ,
and we were chosen so that we would bring praise to
God's glory. So it is with you. When you heard the
true teaching--the GOOD NEWS about your salvation--
you believed in Christ. And in Christ, God put his
special mark of ownership on you by giving you the
Holy Spirit that he had promised. That Holy Spirit
is the guarantee that we will receive what God
promised for his people until God gives full
freedom to those who are his--to bring praise to
God's glory.

Galatians 3:29 NCV

You belong to Christ, so you are Abraham's
descendants. You will inherit all of God's
blessings because of the promise God made to
Abraham.

Dorothy:

I pray that we grasp the deep meaning what God
had promised for us. For me, the month of January
with GOOD NEWS has been very clear what is in the
very heart of God. Different stories of how the
people shared the Good News really touched my heart.
The Good News part 19 has a deeper impact on me. God
wants to draw close to us. I pray that we really see
God's love inside of us and to share that love to
others. That is what Good News is all about. Amen.

Good News! Part 18

Song: I See Jesus
1. Once a man name Stephen, preached about the Lord,
Folks were saved and folds were healed,
As they heard his word;
Satan did not like it, soon he had his crowd,
And as he was tried they heard Stephen cry aloud.
Chorus:
"I see Jesus, standing at the Father's right hand,
I see Jesus, yonder in the promised land;
Work is over, Now I'm coming to Thee,
I see Jesus, Standing waiting for me."

2. As the stones fell on him, beating out his life,
Stephen knew he'd soon be through' with all toil and strife;
So much like the master, with a heart so true,
He prayed, "Lord forgive for they know not what they do".
3. Through the gates of glory, down the streets of gold,
Marched a hero of the Lord, Into heaven's fold;
When he met the Savior, at the great white throne
I believe He smiled and said, "Stephen welcome home."

Dorothy: To appreciate this song about Stephen you would
have to read about him in the book of Acts 6,7 and 8. First
story was about "Seven Leaders Are Chosen." Stephen was
one of the seven to help serve the needs of the community
and he was filled with Holy Spirit. There were people who
did not like Stephen for being so good with Scriptures.
They found fault in him and brought him to a meeting of
the Jewish leaders. They asked Stephen if he had something
to say. Stephen began his speech to the Jewish leaders in
the whole chapter of Acts 7:1-60. They were angry with
Stephen and they wanted to kill him. Stephen saw Jesus.

Acts 7:55-56 NVC

"..Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit. He looked up to
heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at
God's right side. He said, "Look! I see heaven open and
the Son of Man standing at God's right side."
Acts 7:59-60
"While they were throwing stones, Stephen prayed, "Lord
Jesus, receive my spirit." He fell on his knees and cried
in a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them."
After Stephen said this, he died."

Hope you enjoy this.

Good News! Part 17

Song:
Reach Out and Touch the Lord
Reach out and touch the
Lord as He walk by,
You'll find He's not to busy
to answer your heart's cry
He is passing by this moment,
Your need He'll supply.
Reach out and touch the
Lord as He walk by.

The Apostles Heal Many
Acts 5:12-16 NCV

The apostles did many signs and miracles among
the people. And they would all meet together on
Solomon's Porch. None of the others dared to join
them, but all the people respected them. More and
more were added to the group of believers. The
people placed their sick on beds and mats in the
streets, hoping that when Peter passed by at least
his shadow might fall on them. Crowds came from all
the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and
those who were bothered by evil spirits, and all of
them were healed.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, we rely on Your Word that
Jesus is still our healer today. Even with Peter's
shadow fall on sick people in the streets, they
were all healed. So by Thy word, we are healed from
our severe pains in our bodies and anointed us with
Holy Spirit's flowing in our bodies and be healed
in Jesus' name today. We trust You to keep Your
Word of healing power for all of us. Amen and Amen!

Thank you heavenly Father as our lips be full of
praise and thanksgiving for Jesus' healing power.

Good News! Part 16

Song: Jesus is the One
Jesus is the One,
Yes, He's the only One.
Let Him have His way
Until the day is done.
When He speaks, you'll know,
Dark clouds will have to go,
Just because He loves you so.

Acts 4:1-22 New Century Version
Peter and John at the Council
Selection verses: V4-But many of those who had
heard Peter and John preach believe the things
they said. There were now about 5,000 in the
group of believers. V8-Then, Peter filled with
Holy Spirit, said to them, "..... V11-Jesus is
'the stone that you builders rejected, which
become the cornerstone' (Psalm 118:22).
V12-Jesus is the only One who can save people.
His name is the only power in the world that
has been given to save people. We must be saved
through him."

Dorothy:
I read the part about Jesus is the Only One
who can save people. Holy Spirit just brought
to me the old song: Jesus is the One. I sang
with sign language along with this verse.
I really enjoy having Holy Spirit as my
companion and guide. I pray He would do
the same for you. May God bless you today.

Good News! Part 15

Acts 14:15b NCV - (Paul and Barnabas)
"...We are bringing you the GOOD NEWS and are
telling you to turn away from these worthless
things and turn to the living God. He is the One
who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything
in them." Acts 14:19-20 "Then some Jewish people
came from Antioch and Iconium and persuaded the
people to turn against Paul. So they threw stones
at him and dragged him out of town, thinking they
had killed him. But the followers gathered around
him, (to pray) and he got up and went back into town.
The next day he (Paul) and Barnabas left and went to
the city of Derbe. Acts 14:21-22 Paul and Barnabas
told the GOOD NEWS in Derbe, and many became followers.
Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Iconium, and
Antioch, making followers of Jesus stronger and helping
them stay in the faith. They said, "We must suffer many
things to enter God's kingdom."

Dorothy:
Paul was stoned and supposed to be "dead", but the disciples
came around him and prayed for Paul. He got up and he was
fine. He was ready to preach the GOOD NEWS. Key to Paul's
success: he was willing to suffer for Christ and to continue
the GOOD NEWS! I found the song that I remembered in 1958,
the Evangelist's favorite song was "If Jesus Goes with Me."

Song: If Jesus Goes With Me
It may be in the val-ley, where countless dangers hide;
It may be in the sun-shine that I, in peace a-bide;
But this one thing I know if it be dark or fair,
If Jesus is with me, I'll go-- an - y - where!
Chorus:
If Jesus goes with me, I'll go-- An - y - where!
'Tis heaven to me, Wherever I'll be, If He is there!
I count it a privilege here His cross to bear;
If Jesus goes with me, I'll go-- an - y - where!

Prayer:
May the Lord touch you and His face to shine upon you
today, more than ever before. In Jesus' Name. Amen!

Good News! Part 14

When was the first gospel preached after
Jesus went back to heaven?

Acts 2:14-17a,37-39 NCV
"..Peter stood up with the eleven apostles, and in
a loud voice he spoke to the crowd:"My fellow Jews,
and all of you who are in Jerusalem, listen to me.
Pay attention to what I have to say. These people
are not drunk, as you think; it is only nine o'clock
in the morning! But Joel the prophet wrote about what
is happening here today: 'God says: In the last days
I will pour out my Spirit on all kinds of people...'"
(After Peter preached from verse 17-36)
When People heard this, they felt guilty and asked
Peter and other apostles, "What shall we do?" Peter
said to them, "Change your hearts and lives and be
baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promised is for you,
and for your children, and for all who are far away.
It is for everyone the Lord our God calls to himself."

As a result of Peter's first sermon, Acts 2:41b "....
About three thousand people were added to the
number of believers that day."

Song: Freely, Freely
God forgave my sin in Jesus' name;
I've been born again in Jesus' name;
And in Jesus' name I come to you
to share His love as He told me to.
He said, "Freely, freely you have
received; Freely, freely give.
Go in My name, and because you believe,
Other will know that I live."

All power is given in Jesus' name;
In earth and heaven in Jesus' name;
And in Jesus' name I come to you
to share His power as He told me to.
He said, "Freely, freely you have
received; Freely, freely give.
Go in My name, and because you believe,
Others will know that I live".
