Psalm 34:7-8 “The angel of the Lord camps around those who fear God, and He saves them.  Examine and see how good the Lord is.  Happy is the person who trusts Him.”

On December 2015, the Memory of Christmas crisis was seven years ago on Dec. 19, 2008. After reading the crisis news, the Lord reminded me of how He was always with Tony and me. I wrote this news in December 22, 2008 for Fresh Manna.

            [As for news, we had no power last Friday, Dec. 19th until Dec. 21, 2008 when we came home to check the power on late Sunday morning. We stayed at Double Tree Hotel which is across the lake from our apartment. It was like a special Christmas date on Saturday night when it got too cold to stay in our apartment on the second night with no power.
            I had the Fresh Manna ready but no power and something urged me to go to Panera. I remembered they had Wi-Fi so we were there on Saturday morning for breakfast. I was able to transfer from document saved to Fresh Manna. Awesome to me, there was a way to do that when power went out.]

O taste and see that the Lord is good. You are blessed when you trust in God! Maybe you had some crisis time in the past or recently, but you learn to trust in God in all things that we don’t always understand. When we trust God, notice something? We feel good! That is a feeling of God’s blessing on you when we trust in Him! I am reminded of a . . .

Dorothy: After reading this Manna of 2008 and 2015, now we enter the year of 2020! I cannot imagine to be without the heater in our old apartment over the weekend, but I’ve learned the value of trusting the Lord that He made a way by finding a place to stay. And that memory of Jesus’ presence was even sweeter while we stayed at the hotel.

This Manna is just simply a great encouragement of how God works things for good and how He allowed His presence to be sweeter. It makes me think of a sentence from a song something like, “Sweeter as the day goes by.”  Maybe someday I’ll find it or google it, but for now I just want to say, thank You, Jesus for being so sweet . . .

Faith to Endure 3/1-7/20

Romans 5:3 ESV “Suffering produces endurance.”

I questioned God, “Why do we have to go through day by day’s struggles?” I searched for an answer since I quoted healing scriptures, claimed the authority of healing, believed for miracles and many more. Watching several preachers on closed captioned on TV, teaching the Words of God to build our faith and to encourage us to keep on trusting God.

I flipped through certain pages from the song book, looking for something to inspire me. Just several days ago the words came to me, “He gives more grace when the burden grows greater.” So I typed the song that touched my heart. 

Then by chance I read “Our Daily Bread” devotion on Feb. 28, 2020, “The Faith to Endure.” I could not believe that God gave me an answer through this last statement, after reading the story of Ernest Shackleton’s trip to cross Antarctica in 1914 and of Paul’s shipwreck.

“When disasters strikes, we tend to want God to immediately make everything better.  But God gives us the faith to endure and grow.  As Paul wrote to the Romans, “Suffering produces endurance” (Romans 5:3 ESV). Knowing that, we can encourage each other to keep trusting God in hard times.”

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I appreciate Your answer from God’s Word that “suffering produces endurance.” Your Word reminds me that Jesus suffered through trying times and because of that Jesus is able to help us who are going through trying times according to Heb. 2:18.  We still hold on to Your promises of strength and healing in the name of Jesus. Thank You for being a caring Father, Abba.  We love You. Amen!

A Redeemer 2/23-29/20

23-29 February 2020 - There Is a Redeemer – Manna by Dorothy & Tony Callies

I came across the song, ‘There is a Redeemer’ and I was inspired to see the title, “Redeemer.”  So I search through the technology Bible and came to the part that says, “Zacchaeus Redeemed.”  Curiosity got hold of me to read Luke 19:1-10.

Luke 19:9-10 “. . . This day is salvation come to this house, for so much as he also is a son of Abraham.  For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

A story is told like this: Zacchaeus was a short man who was a tax collector and he was wealthy. Zacchaeus heard a lot about Jesus and he wanted to meet Him.  When Jesus came through Jericho, Zacchaeus tried to get close to Jesus, but it was too crowded.  Zacchaeus could not reach Jesus. So he looked ahead and saw the tree and he ran and climbed the tree knowing Jesus would walked through and he would be able to see Jesus in full view of Him. 

When Jesus walked by, Jesus looked up at Zacchaeus . . . I stopped here and I was so impressed how Jesus knew his heart’s desire to meet Him. Even Jesus knew his name and called him and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down!  I must stay at your house today.” Zacchaeus came down quickly and welcomed Him gladly. 

Zacchaeus’ life was transformed, simply because Jesus took the time to visit Him even though people called him, “a sinner!”  He told Jesus that he would give out his possessions to the poor and through his tax collections, he would pay back what he cheated.

Jesus declared to him, “Salvation has come to his house today, because Zacchaeus also belongs to the family of Abraham.”  Jesus came as a Son of man to find lost people and to save them. So Zacchaeus was redeemed as Jesus was his Redeemer.

Dorothy: The whole point of this Manna is that Jesus does noticed you just as He noticed Zacchaeus.  I just mediate what kind of Jesus He is that He would just simply stopped by at someone whose heart’s desire to meet Him.  This story is a reminder of who Jesus is.  Sometimes Satan would tell us that Jesus is too busy with many people around Him. He wouldn’t care about you.  That is a lie from Satan.  Resist Satan and he will flee from you.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fear Not 2/16-22/20

Do you ever felt like 'fear' comes to you unexpectedly even though you trust God? I pulled the card verse from the Bread Box and read "Fear not." Wow! God read my heart! Isaiah 41:13 ncv: "I am the Lord your God, who holds your right hand, and I tell you, 'Don't be afraid. I will help you.'" So it was and still is a comfort to hear God say to us: "Fear not. I am there for you. I will hold your hand."

PS. I told the Lord that I wasn’t really in the mood to develop the Manna so He encourages me to trace the Manna way back to the month of Feb. 2010. Awesome! It does wonders to my soul! Thank You, Father for caring!

Dorothy: I am kind of slow these days in writing the Manna. This song inspired me for several days so I just want to share this.

Count the Stars 2/6-10/20

06-10 February 2020 - Count the Stars – Manna by Dorothy Callies

Genesis 15:5 “He took him (Abraham) outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.”  Then he (God) said to him (Abraham), “So shall your offspring (seed) be” (NIV).

Genesis 22:17 “I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore . . .” (NIV). (Ref: Gen. 26:4)

What was the reason I mentioned about “Count the Stars?” I want to say something about this was what God had spoken to Abraham when he didn’t have a son to begin with. What impressed me was that God prophecy to Abraham the future plan and Abraham believed Him.

Now Tony and I often watched TV with several different preachers who had thousands of people sitting together. Also in other countries, preachers had thousands of people standing together.  Every time, the camera turned to people in the audience, Tony said, “Look at the numbers of people. There are so many of them.” I asked Tony if he remember what God told Abraham about “Counting the stars” of Abraham’s descendant who believes in God as well as “the sand on the seashore.” Tony responded, “Oh yes!”  We are often in awe of seeing this over and over.  The verses just reminded me of God’s Word.

I could imagine God set Abraham to view thousands of people together and say, “Look! Can you count them?” I imagine Abraham would say, “Impossible to count! It’s awesome! Wow!”

This does something to our spirit every time we see “so many people who choose to love God and are part of Abraham’s descendant.”  It uplifts our spirits just to praise Him and say, “God is amazing God!” We could feel that it made God feels so good and that He is glorified.

It reminds me of a song: Oh, the wonder of it all. The wonder of it all just to think that God loves me. I hope this bless you today.

Greater is He 2/1-5/20

1 John 4:4 “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (NIV).

In KJV it quotes: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he (God) that is in you, than he (Satan) that is in the world.”

I was just inspired to quote this verse and to sing this song of overcomer. I search the Scripture related to this verse, starting with 1 John 4:1-6 in NIV.

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.  This is the spirit of antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.  They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them.

“We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how you recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.” End of 1 John 4:1-6 NIV.

Dorothy:  What impressed me . . . simply watch out what we are thinking and what we are saying.  God is greater when He is inside of us.  Using the Word of God makes us great. Someone said that “the war” began inside of us . . .  our thoughts are open for influence so things can come to us easily.  This is where Holy Spirit inside of us gives us a “sounding alarm” to check out the spirits of influence that tried to lure us away from Christ.

This was the reason John, the beloved disciple mentioned, “you are of God and you have overcome them.” John knows that there was “war” inside of us and John simply reminded us that God is greater inside of us than the Devil who is in this world. Amen!
